Interesting move by Inter, if true.

Interesting is one way to describe it. Not sure if this move would make much sense for Inter. They might as well just go out and buy a creative midfielder.

At Mainz, who were in Bundesliga 2 at the time...

Also, the club for whom he had played for 11 years, dropping straight into management after retiring...

Tricky point you've made... ;)

I had a quick read through his autobiography. I did not find the book too interesting: he was such a brilliant footballer that I expected him to give a lot of details on techniques, practice, and tactics. unfortunately what I was left with was an impression of a kid who always wanted to play with England, and somehow, of a not very clever bloke.

Inter would be a good move for him.

I think Stevie would be the first to admit he's not the most academic of lads. His talent was so great at a young age that he probably knew he was going to make a living from playing football, in fact I think he's said as much.

But he knows a hell of a lot more about football than 99 percent of people on here. Stevie was just born to play football. He was a grafter yes, but that was due to his upbringing. He was born with a talent that millions crave and never have. There can be no explanation, sometimes you are just amazing at something and that's it.

He's played under tactically astute managers like Houllier and Rafa. He's played under attacking managers in Rodgers and he's played with a legend and a well rounded manager like Kenny. I'm sure he would have picked up many things from all of them and that's without mentioning playing with some of the best players along the way. Making it in management is very difficult and I'm sure there are plenty of coaches out there who could be managing at the top level now if the cards had fell differently or if a certain signing had been made. Small margins. But Gerrard has got as good as a chance of any as being successful.

Inter Milan have registered an interest in signing Steven Gerrard.

Representatives from the Italian club sanctioned first contact with Gerrard in October before Frank de Boer was sacked as their manager.

Initial discussions related to the possibility of the 36-year-old's playing career extending by a further six months until the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

MK Dons have officially offered the manager's job to Stevie.  He'll announce his decision whether or not to accept on Monday.

He needs to surround himself with super smart coaches like pako as assistant to guide him through.

Maybe a steve clarke. No way hes gonna make it with people who are as clueless as him in terms of coaching.

Steven Gerrard: Liverpool icon out of running for MK Dons job

Quote
Talks between Steven Gerrard and MK Dons have ended, with the League One side continuing their search for a new manager with other candidates.

Positive initial talks took place between the Dons and Gerrard, 36, who will leave LA Galaxy in December.

But the League One side will now continue their search to replace Karl Robinson elsewhere, having already spoken to other candidates.

Gerrard has been linked with Celtic, Inter Milan and a return to Liverpool.

Richie Barker will continue in caretaker charge of the Dons for Tuesday's match against Chesterfield, with the club currently in the relegation zone of the third tier of English football.

Gerrard, the fourth-most capped England international, left the MLS side last week, saying he had "options on and off the pitch".

He left Anfield in May last year, becoming one of the highest-profile English players to move to an American Major League Soccer club.

As well as leading Liverpool to victory in the 2005 Champions League, he won the FA Cup in 2001 and 2006, the latter being dubbed 'The Gerrard Final' after his two goals - one in stoppage time - that saw his team twice come back from a goal down to eventually beat West Ham on penalties.

Gerrard, who is currently taking his Uefa A coaching licence, also won three League Cups, the Uefa Cup and the Uefa Super Cup in his time at Liverpool.

Following Robinson's departure as MK Dons manager, chairman Pete Winkelman said his ambition was to take the team into the Premier League, adding that an important factor in the appointment of the next manager was "playing modern football".

Former Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard says MK Dons' managerial vacancy came "a bit too soon" for him.

The 36-year-old midfielder, who is leaving MLS side LA Galaxy, told BT Sport he held talks with the League One club after Karl Robinson's departure.

"It's a very exciting job for someone else," said Gerrard, who made 710 appearances for Liverpool.

He has been linked with moves to Celtic and Newcastle United, as well as a return to Anfield as a coach.

England's fourth most-capped player left Liverpool in 2015 after 17 years in the first team, during which he won eight major trophies.

Gerrard is working towards his Uefa A coaching licence - the second-highest qualification available.

He made the right decision, no way was he ready to step straight into a managers job. He needs to spend some time shadowing an established manager.

Obviously we don't know if he's capable of being a good manager yet but his ability to assess himself for the situation compared to someone like Sherwood who would jump straight in is a good sign.
Then in the midddle out pops a smiling glen johnson pulling up his jersey to reveal a t-shirt of suarez with a text saying. "OUR SUAREZ IS A FRIEND TO ALL COLOURS!"

Hater.
Someone should do the right thing - go back in time to 1992 and destroy the codes to Championship Manager before it is ever released
