If there's one label Sterling does not deserve is to be called talent-less, shite, etc. Lacking class, disrespectful, self-serving, poorly advised.... perhaps but definitely not a crap footballer. He is supremely talented, as anyone with an objective view would admit. Does he have flaws in his game? Yes. Can these be worked on? Most definitely.
The reality is 99.9% of all footballers in history have not been the finished article at 21. You could say the same of those same players at 35. And that's the thing to remember about Sterling. He's still young, still learning. But, he's a City player now and it's their responsibility, along with Sterling himself, to make the step up to a the very elite level. The onus is not on us anymore and this hostility and bitterness is frankly quite bemusing. We got £50m for him and time will judge on whether that was a good deal for us or not. The way he conducted himself towards the end would suggest that selling him was the only option we had in any case.
