What does everyone order when they go the chippy then? Do you believe in the classic fish and chips or do you invent your own little meal??
Depends where i go, if i go to one with Donner meat i'l get a Donner burger, if not just Chips, Sausage and Gravy.

All you get here is:

FISH

CHIPS

MUSHY PEAS

NEWSPAPER

SALT

VINEGAR

and think thaself bloody lucky!!!!!

(Oh but they do have "scraps" which is not a form of fisticuffs between Heckmondwike and Cleck Hudders Fax Scallies but the leftovers of the bits of fish (tight bu**ers won't give nowt away)!!!

Oh how I miss chips/rice/curry sauce!! Boo Hoo!!!

The way it should be lad.

Too much continental crap on this thread now.  ;)

Depends on the situation and chippy.

The matchday snack is a standard one though - chips and curry. Only variable is the optional sausage perched on top.

:thumbup good lad, thats the first time Ive heard of anyone (besides myself) having chips, curry and a sausage. I've been called some hurtful names for that in the past and for chips curry and steak pie  :'(

Curry, rice and chips with a steak pie on top, with the curry poured over the top of the steak pie as it sits upside down on top of the chips and rice, is lovely  :lickin

Chans on Pilch Lane was always a favourite when I was a lad. Sadly the owner skipped town about ten years ago due to gambling debts from the casinos in town. I don't think it's been the same since.

Used to love one on Longmoor lane called Paul and Helens, it was gorgeous, but got taken over by someone else and isnt the same:(

we use welcome, picton road quite a bit, mainly cos they deliver(we are lazy) but the food is rather nice too.

Quite a few people have told me to try one by the 5ways by the bank, apparenly its really good.

Chippy's never stay great for ever, best chippy in Kirkby for kebabs is Woks cooking but it is shite for meals. Best for meals is the one on the lecky side in Tower hill. Melling fish bar was very good a few years ago and then the cook moved to the Reo in Fazac. Anyone remember the one in Walton Vale about 20yrs ago, it was straight out of the war years. Your spot on about Paul and Helens, it was great for crispy duck and pancakes.

The Lobster Pot has to be the greasiest chippy on the planet. If there were awards for it, they'd piss it every year.

Oh no, I mean it as a good thing, if you know when. Curry, Battered burger & Chips out of there on a freezing cold winters afternoon, mmm class. Its a bit like what them Polar bear fellas must do before hibernating, y'know, feeding on them big fat seals. One visit to the Lobster Pot at the onset of winter and your laughing until April at least.

Any other time of the year and you'll instantly experience heart failure and die down dead with a look of bewilderment plastered on your gob.

Regardless, like any other chippy in town it's foul as you would expect, no point being good as people will still go there regardless.
