Liverpool FC vs. Man City - Thursday 31st July 00:10am
« on: July 28, 2014, 10:28:10 pm »
No open thread so.....

I wonder what side we'll start with. I also wonder what side they'll start with.

I wonder what side we'll finish with. I wonder what side they'll finish with.

I wonder what the score will be come 90 minutes. I wonder if we'll see the excitement of penalties.

I wonder if Suso will get to don his boots. I wonder why they thought we couldn't cope with the concept of midnight kick offs?

Don't like playing opposition teams preseason.

People read far too much into the results (which can be rather one sided) and it spoils the freshness of the game when it comes up in the season ahead...

Plenty of other teams to play outside the premier league IMO

Hope we play a similar team to the one that started against Roma. Don't want to give anything away as well as avoiding having one of their goons injure Sterling or another one of our key players.

Feel the same way about cup competitions during the season, I want us to play someone we've never played before from a country we've never played in before.

there were a few erm...exuberant challenges flying in during the Milan v City game last night...hope this game doesn't follow suit...they can accommodate a few injuries a lot more than we can
They have life in them, they have humour, they're arrogant, they're cocky and they're proud. And that's what I want my team to be.

A raft of long-term injuries to key players could be what he's implying could make you lose the title before the season.

True, but I do feel if we get a good result against City, psychologically it sets us up nicely for our early fixture against them in the league. Get hammered and it could have the opposite effect.

Might get hammered, but I'd like Brendan to literally field a team of total kids and reserves.

These lads are our second game of the season and we really, really can't afford an injury to a key player. Especially now Lallana is out for a bit.

We can't afford to do that. The first team players need games. If you want them ready to face City in the 2nd game, they have to play. You can't be worrying if players will get injured or not. That can happen at any point during the season, then again we might get lucky and it may not.

Yeah this game should be all about getting the first teamers a solid number of minutes regardless of the opposition, we need Sterling, Sturridge, Gerrard and Henderson sharp for the start of the season as they'll all likely be starting.

The first team players need some game time to get back to full fitness. That is the whole idea of preseason, no?

Despite what some say, playing well in pre-season is important for confidence/belief going into the real thing. We've seen that in past seasons.
