Wonder if he'll take Alberto's #6 shirt he wore at the World Cup.

He's an organ donor to be fair. Brendan did say we were looking for the right profile and characters afterall, so that much have clinched it!

Btw, absolutely loved the snip from MNF skysports are showing where Neville and Carragher praise Lovren through the roof for his incredible performance at Old Trafford. He was so fucking good in that game, so hopefully he can replicate that for us! :)

Pleased we finally got our man. Get competition for our fullback positions and I feel like defence could go from a weakness last season to a strength in this coming!

Hugely impressed by his first interview. In fact I'm impressed by how humble and down-to-earth all of our signings have come across as. Lovren is certainly very genuine and clearly shows a lot of passion for the club already which is fantastic. With him in the fold we certainly look set for a few years at CB when you consider we also have Sakho and Ilori who are really good CB's in their own right.

Looking forward to the Dortmund game which should be his first game for us!

Lovren is a git by most accounts. Don't let the marketing team fool you. They are well aware that Liverpool fans hate any player that comes off as the mercenary, Owen Torres Suarez type.

I can't be the only one who thinks that Skrtel - Lovren will be the first choice duo starting off next season?

When Lovren was first mentioned I was very wary due to the price but now it's done I'm feeling pretty positive about it. Suppose those prices are normal in the game nowadays.

More importantly, fuck the price. Problems for FSG to worry about.

From a footballing perspective Lovren-Sakho looks like the sort of partnership I have wanted for as long as I remember. If Rodgers now has a defensive partnership he can rely on and build upon the price really is irrelevant. A solid defensive base is usually the sort of thing League Championship sides are built upon. I couldn´t care less if he cost us £50m if he was the difference between winning #19 or not.

All that said, I actually think £16m-£20m for a 25 year old, Premiership, Champions League & Internationally proven center back is a snip. Have you seen the sorts of prices being paid for David Luiz, Mathieu, Abdennour, Vermaelen etc. Dejan is far superior than the lot of them.

10 years ago Mourinho spent 30m euros for Ricardo Carvalho. An intelligent player to cover for the more aggressive Terry to bring the best out of both players. A league title followed 12 months later.

2 years before that Manchester United paid £34m for Rio Ferdinand. An intelligent player, good on the ball and with some pace to cover in behind the likes of Laurent Blanc & David May. Likewise, a league title followed 2 years later.

Snapping up that player who can partner your more aggressive stopper-type center half is invaluable. Ferguson and Mourinho didn´t bat an eyelid at paying a frankly ridiculous sum to do so. If this is the man Rodgers has identified as his Ferdinad/Carvalho, then £20m in todays prices really is nothing.

EDIT - oh & welcome Lovren to Liverpool. I have massive hopes for you.

Great defensive work, great on the ball and also a threat at set pieces.

Couple of "every touch" videos for those who like that kind of thing:-

Lovren v Real Madrid (Champions League, 22 Feb 2011).
Lovren v Everton
Lovren v Chelsea(a)
Lovren v Man Utd(h)
Lovren v Man City(h)
Lovren v Liverpool(a)
Lovren v Sunderland(a)
Lovren v Spurs(h)

Couple of general observations.
1. He doesn´t play people into trouble with his passing.
2. Stays tight to players receiving the ball.
3. Doesn´t let them turn towards goal.
4. Doesn´t let people run at him. Doesn´t run backwards/retreat into his box when people run at him.
5. This style means he will give away more fouls (& therefore maybe cards) than someone like Skrtel but should stop more dangerous moments at source instead of needing to block shots/Mignolet making saves/last ditch tackles in even more dangerous areas.

Welcome Dejan.

His English is superb. If his French is half as good it bodes well for a potential partnership with Sakho. If he has indeed been earmarked as the organiser his language skills will be crucial.

Anyway, if this guy doesn't do at least 5 step-overs a game I am going to be very disappointed.

Considering how long we've been linked with him during this window, it's comforting to see that we never strayed from our 1st choice target. I think he'll bring some calmness and composure to our defence. Where that leaves Skrtel or Agger is really up to them.

I think we could do with more Southampton players. J-Rod and the tealady, check out the kit man just in case - we would have saved money buying the club and stuffing it with our rejects to sell it.
So, genuine question, do Serbs and Croats get on these days?

Fucking Brendan man. We have a Serbian here already and what he does? He goes on and brings a Croatian. Will kill the team chemistry.

Very good signing that. Cannot wait to see him partner with Sakho. Will compliment each other perfectly.

Dejan Lovren @DejanLovren05  ·  8m

I just signed a contract with one of the biggest club in football history, the great #LiverpoolFC !!

He seems made up, been speaking about us well all summer :)

There is a Chelsea fan making a comment about how Lovren is deluded. From what I can understand he means he is deluded when it comes down to Liverpool being one of the biggest clubs ever. I wonder who is deluded thinking Chelsea is bigger :lmao Until Chelsea have 18 league titles and 5 European Cups, they can shut the eff up about being bigger.

Christ he's giddy in that interview  ;D

Gotta love it! He just can't stop smiling :)

I watched his whole first interview with the cameras of LFC tv,he was simply top class and you could see in his eyes and hear in his words some kind of crazy determination that if he puts half of it on the pitch we are already safe ;D
