Well not directly but it shows they are well co-ordinated and aren't reliant on one side of their body like most people are.
Ah fair enough, yeah that's true :)

Could argue this is his first season as the absolute key striker, what with Suarez being here before. Hopefully he says fit because it's gonna be a cracker.

looking forward to seeing him get the stage all to himself. Yes he will be changed for certain games, and he wont always be at his best in games but the lad is a very flexible player. He can lead the line and play off the shoulder, he is superb at dropping deep to receive possession and spinning and picking out a 30 yard pass, works the channels well, quick feet, scores different types of goals.  Brilliant to have the lad, hope he can stay fit as he will hurt most teams he plays against.

Think that's quite common mate, I'm predominantly left-footed and right-handed. More unusual I think to be all lefty (which I apparently was before it was trained out of me in primary school for some reason).

Don't agree with Carra's 'bullying' slant at all; think Suarez is just a demanding winner in general, who gets mad frustrated with everyone, including himself. I don't think Danny would be happy to be portrayed as being picked-on, either - the reason everyone always thought the SaS relationship was a tense one is because both are very strong characters. Hope Luis keeps in touch with the boys over the coming years, Sturridge is right to see what they had going together as very special and unique.

It's defo beneficial to have a grounded but larger than life character like Dan around. Can see him even potentially getting the armband in years to come. If he doesn't get a proper song belted out this season, we're all a bunch of cunts.

Hands off johnny come lately to the party.

He's mine.

Knowing Daniel the way I do, he probably would go for a drink with you.  He's just that kind of guy. Sweet, generous, always got time for fans, strong, powerful, relentless, relentless, unforgiving, relentless, brutal, brutal, FAST and then calm.

But his head would be elsewhere... not to worry though, once he's home I'll let him put his head where it, mentally, already was.

LOL.

Yep, wouldn't want him to take freekicks either.

He lacks the control the likes of Gerrard, Alonso etc have. And The control Suarez has shown on freekicks. Which is weird considering his general passing, shooting is very precise.

I love that video of him and Ibe, and Hendo there when assumedly he didn't need to be in the slightest. Such camaraderie between the squad, even on silly things like this, can only be good for us.

Couple of lovely passes last night. Disguised reverse ball ahead of Henderson that led to the Lambert header and the outside of the boot flicked through ball for the Robinson chance also. Both perfectly weighted.

Brendan needs to tell him to aim his penalties low. With the amount of power he gets behind his shot with a short step up there are very few keepers who could save his penalties if he just hits them low

Might just be a day off to rest since he played 90 minutes against City and we could have 2 games coming up in quick succession.

He had niggles and injuries in pre-season last year too, only playing 45 minutes before the season started. Yet that didn't stop him scoring in every game until Suarez came back. He also scored immediately after returning from niggling injuries at Goodison as well as at Stoke, which suggests he's not someone who takes a while to get going after injuries. No reason to worry.

I think you are missing my point. My concern is that he tends to spend time on the treatment table too often not whether he finds form straight away when he comes back. He was exactly the same at Chelsea. Signing a striker is absolutely essential

For us played 29 league games last season and from jan the season before he played 14

With champions league this season his injury record has to be a concern and looked at

Another striker in would be ideal.
However, there'll probably be a lot of rotation this season due to CL, so I doubt he'll be playing 40+ full 90 min games this season.

Absolutely and I'm sure BR knows it.

The difference when Suarez was here was that he was very possibly at his best up front on his own so when Danny got injured Suarez really kicked on.

Def a need for a pacey striker even one who does not mind playing out wide / centre as the club seems to have numerous 10 types on the books....Sterling, Lallana, Coutinho, Suso but short up top. I guess we are getting real greedy these days but were so spoiled last season with 50 league goals by our two main guys. You look at what we have now and wonder if 35 plus league goals from two strikers is a very acceptable target. Honestly if we get that number (from two of our strikers) I be very happy as others will pitch in more this year I feel.

Let's sort the more important contact issues first, eh? Gerragrd, Sturridge and Sterling are not going anywhere. They can sign in September.

I'm concerned about Sturridge's injury record and having a player who does the below as your focal point and main source of goals.

But he's not often out for very long though, is he?
And his form seems to have been fairly unaffected by these niggles and hamstrings at least.

So far he's played ~ 77% of our matches since his arrival.

Point is he DOES have a history of getting injured. The time on the sidelines may vary but he does get injured. We haven't replaced Suarez yet (by replaced I mean brought in another capable striker) and id be flabbergasted if that stays the same. If we don't we are fooked.

We wouldn't be fucked. We've got good enough attacking mids nowadays that we it wouldn't cripple us. However, it is important that if we want to make the best possible attempt at the league, we do get another striker in.

Agreed.

So this other striker; presumably, he is a back up.

The idea of the back up is they slot in and perform a lot of the key functions. TAW made the point that buying for this Liverpool side is very difficult since we play at a pace which is beyond the majority of footballers.

Do we subsequently build our attacking patterns around a rare type of player who rarely plays, or a Bony who is more common and less injury prone?

I'm happy to create discussion and take reasons why I might be wrong, but I disagree that it would be that important.

Sturridge isn't a rare type of player, and he doesn't rarely play either. Slot Bony into our system and it would work just fine with a few small adjustments.
