Probably the best Anfield wrap yet. Carragher has become a really good speaker and it felt like five minutes in when it was getting wrapped up.

Quote from: hinesy
He hadn't played as if he was on fire, more the slight breeze cutting across New Brighton on a summer's day than El Nino, the force of nature.

It's insane how far TAW has come. I started listening back in early 2012. And I remember then thinking, "wow this podcast is huge". I never imagined it could become as successful as it has.

I'd love to be able to hear the very first one again somehow.

Buzzing to hear the Carragher ep.

Small criticism of the website here. The marquee (scrolling) text is incredibly distracting when trying to read the blog via smartphone. I couldn't read all of "the King is dead, long live the king."

Not sure what anyone else thinks, but for me the contents needs to be the most visible part of the article.

If you're using Chrome you can disable it temporarily when you get to the page. Right click it the scrolling bit, select "inspect element".

Select the line that starts off with this (it'll probably be just above whatever gets selected by default):

Quote
<ul class="fixedFoot newsticker" style="width: 3142px; transition: 13.386000061035157s

Press Delete, and it should disappear. You'll have to do that every time you go onto a new page, but you can at least read the article that way.

I can't do that on the smartphone though.

I think anyone who wouldn't take 84 points right now is barmy!

Excellent episode. Again.

Does anyone how  I download the podcast on an android phone? Used to listen direct, so never tried to, and I could be completely wrong, but don't think iTunes works on an android.

Podtrapper is a good (free I think?) android app that will be useful. You can either search within the app to add podcasts or copy and paste in RSS feeds. It keeps all the episodes in order and automatically updates podcasts for new episodes.

Really enjoyed that one. Brilliant you got Carra on, just a sign of how far it has came as a Podcast. Its great listening to him talk like a fan

I thought he was brilliant when Rob brought up Henry and then talking about his best derbies going through Pienaar after 30 seconds

And yes I would be snapping your hand off for 84 points this season

Big thumbs up to Heaton and everyone else involved. Not just for this episode, but the podcast in general. And the excellent magazine.

And yes, I'd still take 84 points. Should be enough for a top three finish.

been listening to this podcast since late on in 2011...

If you told me then that the show would eventually be able to draw the likes of Carra i wouldnt believe it ha.....you must be proud of what you've achieved!

Well done and keep it going

He does come accross well too, seems his experience in being a "pundit" has helped him. Most interesting bit of the pod for me was the convo on how there is less aggressive talk on the field...

Thanks lads that was a great listen. Jamie talking about the mental pressure that playing 2/3 games a week brings being the hardest part was very insightful. The point about having no time to wallow in a defeat or bask in the glow of a win because the next game is upon you within days and your mental focus needs to almost immediately shift to the next game after the last one has finished. It has to be a big concern given the nature of our high intensity play, age profile of squad/signings and a manager who hasn't before had to deal with those problems to the extent he will next season.

Same, mate. I've listened to every single episode since the beginning. I thought it was great back then and it's only improved consistently since. They've now had Rafa, Brendan, Didi and Carra on there. It's very, very difficult to top that! As Roy says, the bar really is set as high as it could possibly be at this point. And I still maintain that the episodes after defeats are some of the very best.

One thing on the Carra episode, I would've loved to hear his take on the whole left side/right side central defender debate, and whether he thinks that it's as big an issue as some believe.

He played in every league game last season and averaged over 81 minutes per game. Funny to me how ideas like that get momentum.

The group adulation here is still undervaluing what that episode achieved imo. Because we love TAW and appreciate Neil as its host we don't need footballers on every week, but having Carra on in such a relaxed state and not being centre-stage was immense - both for the credibility of the show and its production, for those that don't already get it.

Well done Andy, Neil and all of you.

Wanted to come on and post the exact same type of comment. For some reason assumed Jamie would just be interviewed for a bit asked a couple of questions and what not. I though Neil was taking the piss when he said Jamie was there ready to chip in.

Absolutely brilliant, seamless, interesting, funny. Honestly some of the best "football media" (for want of a better phrase) is what the Anfield wrap is, always engaging and brilliant, there is literally never an episode without nuggets of gold.

Good point about complacency. I listen expecting it to be brilliant every time which is an impossible ask really. Thankfully Neil and co show no sign of complacency and strive to be fresh and interesting each week. Thanks guys, I don't know how you manage it!

Its fucking brilliant. Funny, insightful, mixes tactical discussion with good old transfer speculation bollocks, player analysis, as well as the more serious business of the running of the club, ticket prices, ground development, finance, fan groups, and is at its very best during the highly emotive issues surrounding Hillsborough and the huge developments regarding that subject over the last couple of years. And for free. Bloody amazing.

Right, gonna donate to them now, as I keep forgetting and just got paid! Agree with the taking this for granted. Keep up the good work everyone, its much appreciated!
