First thing I thought when I saw this was 'alright Dave'

Great charcter actor, easily my favourite character in Only Fools and Horses and he was excellent in Vicar of Dibley as well

If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.
