Great work Sargeant-Major Evo. Have a great night.
If any more motiviation is needed for the crowd to be loud and proud tonight, then do it for the lads who've got us this far but who can't be out there tonight.
Xabi: he came back from a 4-month injury at Juve in extremis, lasted the whole game against all known normal odds, and ran the midfield like he'd never been away. His reward for this effort was a completely unjust booking conned out of the referee by Gudjohnsson's cheating and which rules him out of tonight's game.
Scream yourselves hoarse for Xabi Alonso.
Flo: he changed the face of the game with his half-time intoduction in the pivotal game against Olimpiakos. His running and dynamism scared their defence witless and was a major part of the epic comeback, setting up the equalizer in to the bargain. He may have done little else this term and is out for the whole season with injury, but he was vital to us being in this position.
So come on guys n' gals, go wild for Florent Sinama-Pongolle.
Mellor: a late substitute in the Olimpiakos game, he said he knew whilst preparing to come on that he would get one chance and that he would have to put it away for Liverpool to progress. The chance came, he rifled it home. A clever headed lay-off, let's not forget, was the precursor to Gerrard's stunning, match-winning strike too. Without Neil Mellor, we probably wouldn't be here either. Injury has prematurely curtailed his season too, and he may not do much more in a Liverpool shirt ever again, but he can be proud of his contribution if Liverpool do stride out in Istanbul.
So let's hear it for Neil Mellor too.
Evo's right, the crowd needs to be the most awesome and intimidating of 12th men. Anfield needs to seethe before it can rejoice. There's 40,000 of you that can make this happen. Don't let these three boys down. Enjoy.
