If Matip is back in action I'd like to see Klavan next to Gomez in the replay. I think he would benefit playing next to a specialist centre back, if that is his future path rather than back up left back.

It's a knock on effect though - with Mane, Coutihno, Henderson, Matip, Ings, Grugic all absent and Sturridge still feeling his way back to fitness, plus two massive games coming up in the next few days, the team we put out yesterday was bound to be raw, hence the average age of 21. Plus we had players like Ojo and Gomez playing their first games in a while after injury. Granted, Origi didn't have the best game but, come on, this is no time to be whinging about squad depth. The circumstances were exceptional and Klopp had to prioritise the next two games. That was not our reserve team playing yesterday so it's silly to talk about depth after one match.

I'm not talking about it after one match; I said it before we even kicked a ball this season to some criticism on here. Our bench has been consistently weak throughout the league campaign in comparison to our rivals. This season, it's less of an issue, but it will still rear its head during a busy period as it did at Sunderland. Next season with European football - hopefully Champions League - we won't get away with it and therefore probably five quality additions are necessary in the summer to add to the talented but small experienced group we currently have. The thinking in the summer of 2014 was correct, if a bit too scattergun, we just signed a few duds. I'm confident we won't make that mistake again under Klopp.

You compare that eleven I listed on the previous page to any of our rivals, and it falls down to all of them in probably every area except our back-up strikers. Our first eleven - or first fourteen you could argue - stands up to anyone, which is partly why our big game record is so good (Klopp's style being the other big factor of course).

Absolutely. Or for Gomez to start and then be replaced by Lucas.

For differing reasons, Gomez and Lucas can't currently complete 90 minutes at their best level. You could see them tailing off badly in the second half, and both making tired mistakes.

The first from Gomez that almost set up a one on one (but for Stewart's intelligent reading, positioning and tackle) and the second from Lucas passing straight to them, which gifted them a counter. A shot at goal that they should have done better with.

Thought it was quite lax leaving them both on, but probably a calculated gamble (since it was obvious it would happen even before the game) that the subs could score

. It was only last season he was scoring the goal that started the comeback against Dortmund.

What kind of shite argument is that ffs?!!  I looked all the way down to the Toolstation Western League Division 1 and Dortmund didn't show up anywhere - they must be absolute pish.

The less said about this game, the better.

In such a sumptuous festival of shite, I wouldn't be so quick to pick a winner..
