Anyone else sort of worried about Klavan? I feel like he will get a second yellow, although he did recover tremendously from a rocky start

Think he's been really good in that half - the yellow was a shit pass and he got sold short. The De Bruyne shot, again, he's reacting to someone's shit pass down that side of the pitch.

It's very tight in midfield, they've also made some sloppy passes - there'll be more from both sides in the 2nd given the nature of the game - it's being fought in midfield.

I don't like it when we're not all blood and thunder but so far so good. Sturridge on for Firmino at some point hopefully.

Klavan has been a beast so far.

I wouldn't want to be accused of hyperbole, but it might be the greatest defensive performance Anfield's ever seen.

Firmino been poor again. We're not being troubled by City either so far considering we haven't got out of 2nd gear.

need to get some more pressure on him as he's an accident waiting to happen

Solid first half by us, but the way Pawson has been officiating this so far, City are likely to get something big in their favour in the second half. Magnificent header by Wijnaldum for the goal

Funny game...

Klopp has out tinkered Gaurdiola with the formation so far...

City will score though, some great diagonal balls by them, and Sterlings pace is a threat.

I don't think we've played our best football even though every later has worked damned hard.

Why will city score? Haven't created anything that half.

A few times Milner has been isolated 1 on 1 with Sterling I've been worried but he's help up alright.

Very impressed with Klavan playing on a yellow card like he has.

I think we will grow stronger in the 2nd half but I wonder how city will respond. This game is tense and we should have gotten another goal.

Nerves in the crowd

Different Liverpool tonight more discipline very organised more than usual but at e expense of some of our free flow attacking game. We need to take our chances at this rate although it will open up no doubt. I sense a city goal too. We need to go for the kill

Crowd could make a difference here if they up the ante

I thought Klopp's comments on signing him - 'backup? Wait till you see him play...' were a little bit hyperbolic, confidence building stuff, but it's not true at all. He's been absolutely immense since he came back into the side, and quality on the ball too.

Just needs one perfect ball and Aguero is in.  We've stopped it well so far, but the ball is clearly on and well planned for.

It was great to see Lallana realise that there is a great opportunity to get the ball, because Toure was unaware of him.

Our goal reminded me of McDermott's against Spurs in 1978 - quick break from defence,a great cross met with a perfect header.
