Hard work, Klopp getting it spot on to nullify City, and that curious feeling of knowing there's a lot more from this team to come. Really well done with that performance. Not pretty at times but so fucking effective with the goal in the bank.

Woooooooo! Not a great game but Klopp knew exactly what he was doing here. He always does against the "big" teams.

Happy for Gini, deserved a goal for all his hard work in the past few games.

Chelsea have to drop points at some point, we just have to keep winning!

Splendid.

If all those people saying 'we'll need at least one more because there's no way we keep a clean sheet' at HT could carry on doing that in future HT threads, that'd be much appreciated ;)

How the fuck do Manchester City come to Anfield and have ZERO CHANCES!?

I'm not talking clear cut chances, ZERO CHANCES WHATSOEVER!?

That's incredible.

Nervy second half, but who gives a fuck?

Another clean sheet.

Another rival beaten.

Are we unbeaten so far against the top teams?  Arsenal (w), Tottenham (d), Chelsea (w), City (w).

Plus the mid-table shite: Untied (d), Ev (w).

Best points tally at this stage of ANY premier league season (because of course, football only started in the 1990's).

Anyway - Brilliant win to end the year.  More of the same in 2017 please.

Happy Fucking New Year, boys and girls.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Saw that game out very well tonight. Our manager has a fantastic tactical brain and the team managed that game superbly after the goal.
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. Time to unclench and have a poo.

When was the last time we held a 1-0 lead for 83 minutes plus injury time? That was great. Chelsea still within reach.

you'll take a 1-0 unconvincing win over a game like Bournemouth any day. City threw everything at us 2nd half but didn't really look like scoring

Of course, we were excellent without the ball but fairly mediocre in possession. Matters little at the end of the day though as long as 3 points is the end result.

As important a way to win as is scoring tons of goals.

I said in the pre game thread: "So Pep just said that Jurgen is "the greatest football manager in the world" in his presser, with the video of it hitting the BBC footy page. He may then have attempted to moderate his comment by adding "at organising attacks to break down defences", but hey, that's a compliment if ever another manager made one - or is it mind games?"

And the answer is, Pep was right.

Fucking great win. Solid at the back even when we looked like we were conceding possession. On another day and with a bit more composure in the final third, we would have smashed them. Brilliant performance.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Urghh. A horrible 25 minute spell in the second half. Awful passing at times by both teams. Defensively, though, we were almost perfect, however tortuous it was to watch. I loved the way we came back in the last 15 minutes and took the game away from City again. Lovely stuff.

One of our worst performances on the ball this season but we've won. Weird match once we scored the goal, the intensity from either side wasn't as high as I would expect or have seen before against them. We neutralized their attacking threat apart from one or two moments, but never was I more frustrated with our passing and decision making on the ball in the second half like I was tonight. We had moments where we could have created better attacking situations but the passing was poor. Can really is an enigma on the ball, his lack of mobility compare to everyone else sticks out.

Hopefully Hendo is not injured too seriously.

Gini with a fantastic header, one of the best at Anfield i've seen, MOTM surely?

Massive win.
