Turned out to be a wasted season for him - but hopefully one that at minimum acclimatizes him to England.

Not what we want but IF we end up in Europa only next season then that would actually be best for Grujic's development. Don't think we'd play him in champions league.

Needed to get him in January last year to give him that 6 month acclimitisation then. It's been wasted 18 months for him.

"Injured - Expected Return - February 27, 2017"

Sounds like he's a still a few weeks away and will then need to build his fitness back up. Maybe see him on the subs bench from March?

Great news.  You get the feeling this fella has a big big future ahead of him.

We're rightly clammering for increased quality in the midfield but the truth is we've hardly seen anything of this lad to see if he can take the step up - he could be the answer.

In some ways its a waste of a season certainly playing wise for him, but I think it will have been invaluable for him just being here with the squad and getting used to his surroundings the past 9 months or so.

He'll be well settled which is a huge bonus ahead of his fitness targets.

Agreed with this. Hopefully the injuries aren't a consistent thing - maybe as he gets used to the rigors and gets stronger.

Played for the U23's v Everton in the Mini Derby tonight. We won 2-1.

Probably the best player on the pitch.

Ojo, TAA, and Wilson were good as well.

Has he grown another 12" since being injured? Was a big lad anyway but looked about 7ft out there.

Good cameo too.

Personally felt he didn't get involved enough , at times you would think he wasn't on the pitch and should have scored but didn't even hit the target.

Yeah, he had a very quiet game, got booked after four minutes which I think held him back a bit for the rest of the game.

He was poor in Serbia's first game and sounds like he was again today, not to worry he's impressed me in a Liverpool shirt so far.

Indeed, I've seen some quality players look absolutely rancid in the Under 21s - think it'll do him good after such a stop start season to get some minutes under his belt though.

Sounds like he's too eager to impress, much like Can was when he first came here. He used to be reckless and uncontrolled also in his limited playing time.

He just needs more games, I think. He needs that assurance that he's going to get his chance.

I'm a massive fan of Grujic.

I think he's the opposite of a lot of our young midfielders over the last few years (Stewart, Brannagan, Rossiter, Chirivella et al) in that all of those guys were neat and tidy with nothing flashy in their lockers.

Grujic is more like a young Gerrard, in that he can play the 40 yard pass, play the one two, get forward and score thumping headers or 30 yard rockets. To play in a Klopp team, which values hard work and quick transitions, Grujic needs to work on those aspects of his game a little more. Once he gets there though, he'll be absolutely beastly. I'm actually a bit more confident he'll make it at Liverpool than I am about Origi.

That is some very interesting insight.  I hope you're right - I think central midfield is a  weak part of our team.

I wouldn't read much into the Wigan game, he looked knackered which can really mess with your speed of thought and awareness.
