Has it?
Or is it just LFC supporters checking it out and making up their own minds?
The proof in the pudding is in 3-6 months are the hits/views really there.
Will "traditional" supporters bin it and will others get tired of it?
Sometimes I think some try to hard to be all things to all people when it's not necessary.
Has it what? Created incremental traffic and page impressions to add to the official website? Yes, significantly. It was the most visited LFC website in the world on Friday. Can it maintain high levels? Yes - as long as the content / ideas are maintained. In fact, I would expect it to get much bigger - the only promotion of it at the moment is via social media, one homepage slot out of 5 on the official site and through forums etc - not a penny spent on marketing.
What is a 'traditional' supporter? It will appeal to people it appeals to - simple as that. Some will like it, some will hate it. As you will clearly see, it's not been forced on anyone - we haven't changed the official site to this style - so nothing has been changed or taken away - we've just added something Xtra (excuse the pun) - which people can either choose to enjoy or not.
As for your last comment: "Sometimes I think some try to hard to be all things to all people when it's not necessary."
Surely, that's the opposite of what I've done. I've not interfered with the official site to try and make it all things to all people, I've created something new.
What I think you mean is, I've created something that you don't really like or feel the need for - regardless of whether or not there may be hundreds of thousands of fans who do want it. But remember, it's not about you or me. If there is an audience for it, it will be a success - if there isn't, it won't be. Either way, no one is worse off as the official site still exists as it did.
