International Week March 2017
« on: March 22, 2017, 12:15:44 am »
Hooray!

Germany v England... the 1-5, the blue shirts, Gareth, and sticking Lallana out wide. Can we have Rashford up front for this please? No? OK. Same old shit then. ITV. Oof.

Germany are playing Azerbaijan in a qualifier after the friendly, and seem to be lining up a charity gig for tomorrows game. Meanwhile, England will be up against Lithuania for another chance to get dumped out of a competition two stages early, and in preperation, will line up 'full strength' v Germany, whilst 'getting off an island and learning from somewhere else' etc.

Here we go again. Get on the train or do one.

Scotland v Canada - awesome!

England (expected): Hart; Keane, Smalling Cahill; Walker, Dier, Livermore, Bertrand, Lallana, Alli, Vardy.

I actually like the idea of a front three of Lallana, Alli and Vardy flanked by Walker and Bertrand but jeeeeez, three centre backs AND Dier and Livermore is negative. Going to struggle to pass it forwards to them!

I don't think I have ever had less interest in an international friendly than this one. I watch pretty much any football that is on but I will probably swerve this. The Germans are treating it as a testimonial so it shouldn't even be on tv to be honest

Standard practice for England, take the friendlies way too seriously, win but learn nothing, gain a false sense of pride and increased expectancy that the next tournament could be different, fall apart at said tournament.

Both Brandt and Werner start for Germany, looking forward to seeing a bit more of them. Will be good scouting them tonight  for us signing them next season to see if they can break down a deep defence, England gone 5 at the back.

5 at the back with two players who've played centre back this season in midfield

Podolski's last start for Germany as he retires from international footy after tonight. Nice touch by Low.

I expect he'll be subbed off Muller or Schurrle or someone second half.

There's going to have to be some bloody good movement infront of them to pull a very organised German team apart..... this game is going to be like putting bleach in your eyes.....set piece or no score draw, 3 lions, Terry Butcher bloody head, Gazza crying emphatic game...

Am i the only one who really could not give a toss?

They love him don't they? Always thought of him as a good player and looking at his international stats, he's got a decent scoring record but he really seems to be a fan favourite.

Dunno, never really bothered during the Hodge/Fat Sham era... Germany also missing a few key players though. And England aren't carrying their 'talisman' today...
