Really enjoying the new XX album.

Same. Very good album
Wake up, will ya pal? If you're not inside, you're outside, OK? And I'm not talking a $400,000 a year working Wall Street stiff flying first class and being comfortable, I'm talking about liquid. The new album from Throwing Snow is out and it's stunning. If you're into cinematic and experimental electronica/dance music give it a listen.

There's some good bits on the XX album but on the whole it's far weaker than the first and second. I respect them for pursuing a different sound rather than just doing the same thing again though.

RTJ3 is still my jam so far this year.

Trump's presidency is at least allowing us to reap the award of new music. Yesterday alone there was over a hundred new protest songs released.

On the subject of the Gorillaz, look forward to hearing the rest of the fifth album. Six years of wait was excruciating.

Run the Jewels clip from a protest gig in Washington. Easily one of the most important acts going around not just musically but in terms of themes and just energy. Can't think of a single hip-hop/rap artist that brings that kind of energy to a live show.

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Cass McCombs at the Deaf Institute last night did not disappoint.

4 piece band, and refreshingly, an artist who seems to actually know what his own best material is - I would have pretty much picked the same setlist. Big Wheel was incredible. A 10 minute County Line to finish, with an improvisation that touched on dub reggae without coming close to cringe. Amazing musicians. Had to dash for the train so if there was an encore I missed it :(

Gauntlet laid down, have to be pretty good to beat that show.

Saw him as well last Friday night and like you I enjoyed the show immensely. Just four really smooth musicians performing, particularly the bass player who almost stole the show.

Speaking of cringe and the only low point of the show, Cass was joined on stage at one point by two Irish traditional musicians. It didn't go well... To my ears anyway because I hate that shite. The tin whistle was beaten into me as a child.

Had a pretty fun night yesterday watching old school swamp rock legends Six Ft Hick. They're old as fuck now but just as brutal as ever. And then on a completely different spectrum, ended up watching a brand new band called Confidence Man play a set at the venue next door. Some of the grooviest, funkiest shit I've heard in a long long time with a super neat live act. It's like BoneyM for 2017 and somehow it works like a motherfucker!

I'm a massive fan and I think it lacks any depth or originality. Considering the last 2 albums have either won a grammy or been produced by James Murphy the new album has a lot to live up to.

I thought I read somewhere it was his 40th, the album title makes much more sense to me now... Either way, that's one impressive body of work.

Yeah, it's really good. I'd only heard one of his before 50, Fully Qualified Survivor, which is similarly excellent. He's certainly got a way with a tune.

Been a few good albums released/leaked this month: 50, RTJ3 (sort of), Loyle Carner, Ty Segall's new one's a lot of fun as is the Japandroids' album, if not up to Celebration Rock levels.

Father John Misty has a new song and video out. It's eerily reminiscent of Holy Shit from Honeybear, but it's brilliant. Love the word play, the cynicism of it all. It's one of the funnier songs I've heard in a bit.
