In the hunt for the league and automatic promotion
One semi final second leg to play
A final on the 1st May
Reading the thread through shows how much progress COLFC have made in their first season. I have been down to see them a fair few times and I am hooked. Fiver in, stand with your mates and have a pint. The atmosphere is spot on, free parking and a good laugh. The club does a lot of charity work as well that is well received in the local community
I tried non-league a few years ago and just felt like I was gegging in. I tried Marine, Cables, AFC, I felt I was tagging on to something I had no affinity to. Nobody wants that
COLFC has not ignored other teams nor tried to encroach, it has set out to be something new to capture the large numbers of people who are becoming a bit pissed off with the modern game (prices, access to tickets, kick off times, the general hassle of maintaining loyalty). This is a lot better than trying to build up loyalty when you are competing online with the 'greatest football family' for tickets. Everton fans will see this shift when they get their new place.
Good luck to them in their quest for a ground and I hope they continue the good work. Conditions are ripe for non-league teams to push on providing they incorporate the things that have made COL a success (so far).
