Brian is the old fella, apparently him or his family have owned the place since the 1950's! I can honestly say in 15 years of going the Cabin, I have never seen any aggro in there at all - they dont even have bouncers!
It's a shame nowadays as downstairs rarely opens but it's still a top, top place!

neither have i. it was a place you could chill out, have a laugh, relax without any bother
can i have my old name back please?

hehe, i just remembered something else.  going back to 1989 and after going out somewhere but i can't remember where exactly, it must have been after 1 or 2am and getting late when someone mentioned this place, so we went there, 4 of us in a taxi. i didn't have a clue where we were going so just went along with it, as i was thinking nah we'd never get in at that time

ended up going to a place called the gladray. i was quite amazed we got in and thought it was handy for after hours drinks.  i was a bit mesmirised by things they had on the walls, like zulu shields and all that.  it didn't even occur to me in thinking wtf am i doing here?  and ended up going back a few times at later dates, but it was dawning on me that it was a bit of an allsorts den. even if the owner was fascinated with me coming from wales and she was asking me if i knew her relatives in cardiff, which i'm not from anyway but it was good conversation and a giggle.

a couple of years later, i was watching tv and what was on it was the gladray. some programme on bbc2.  then i heard about the fire and got closed down or something.

I've always thought Krazyhouse is incredibly overrated. Some of me mates reckon it's boss but I think it's shite and tacky, music's kak. The Office is usually full of turds lookin to kick off on anyone who so much as glances at them n'all.

Big fan of Modo, Cube and Mood though. Meet's quite good as well. I tend to stick to Concert Square whenever I'm out in town at night. To be honest the majority of clubs in town are really good. The nightlife in the city has improved considerably recently.

flares next door wouldn't let me in wearing it, so i decided to go. after all, it was about half past two anyway

only two trains are good for me on a weekday or saturday. 5am arr lime st 10.15am, or 10am arr 3.15pm  it's the cheapest route £43.50 if i stay up or £50 same day return with a bus back late after the train...

if i go the other way round, if an advance fare is available, it costs £44.50 same day return. arr lime st 12:45 or 1:45pm which cuts things abit fine on a saturday and an extra hour on the journey to get to the station and hanging around for 40 mins. if i stay up, it's £51.50
advance fares aren't available on all trains, and make things awkward.  otherwise £72 return

oooo think my first was the kiss in aintree, an my first kop (how old do i sound)

I think that the worst - and not because of the actual venue - just the type of people is concert square. I hate concert square, everyone in those bars are a bit pretencious, not very chatty or relaxed. Mostly trying to pose their way through the night.

Some of the best nights out ive had are either in lively pubs, heebie jeebies is good, lago, and those eighties and sevnties bars where no one gives a toss and just has a good time.

not sure about 80's bars.. it may be just how it was at the time first time round. maybe it'll be a laugh, as long as they didnt play the cheesy songs they were playing in clubs at the time.

when i'm up next and stay up whenever that is, i think flares the 70s place is on the cards. either that or back over to cabin club area

tend to avoid concert square full of young coke heads loking for scraps, shame really coz its nice round there in the summer
heebies i go to quite often though i think its gone down hill a bit.quite like mojo from time to time.Other than that tend to stick to pubs rather than clubs.

Too many to mention them all but

Best: Cream night @ The Academy, although student night used to be decent too
Others decent nights: 051, State, Buzz/Zubb Club whatever you want to call it, Cavern
Others Frequented: Kiss and Paradox in Aintree, Fallows, Fridays/Scotts
Worst: Toss up between the Toro on Rice Lane and the Broadway (before it was burned down, though not much difference!) in Norris Green.

Krazyhouse is extremely scatty but if you put a bit of effort in it's not hard to grab a really fit bird, they're most usually a slag though so make sure it's just a one-nighter you're after! ;D

I used to work in Meet as well... Less said about that place the better! Worst I've seen is people getting fingered so it's not that slaggy I guess (there's a facebook group with a lot of members called 'I'm one of the few girls who hasn't been seen getting shagged in the Krazyhouse', for example), is scally central though.

Do you mean that you're not into rock music, or you don't like the actual rock music that's being played?

If it's the former, then I'd question why you're going to a rock club in the first place. If it's the latter, then to be fair to them, I've heard an incredibly diverse range of music over the the years across all three floors. Everything from Slayer to the Dandy Warhols to the Prodigy and everything inbetween.

It's defo not perfect by any stretch, but as the only rock club in the city it's been an important part of a lot of scenes for a long time. I go maybe once a year now for old times sake, but I've had some incredible nights in there over the years.

The El Toro was fucking shite alright! Went a few times because it was the closest club to where I grew up. Could stagger home in under 10 minutes.

Hannah's bar - just for the birds who work there. Saw a thread on here a while ago about how they always flirt with you in there to make you think they want you, when really all they want is for you to keep going back the bar and lining their bosses' pockets. Dick teasing bastards.

You must have been close to the old Nurses club in Walton Hospital. What a fuckin gem that place was. Cheap ale and something to go home with!

About the same distance, with the added attraction of the Red Pepper just a bit further up Rice Lane. Nurses club was sound, never had much luck in there though.  :(

Got a lot of mates into rock music, I'm not a massive fan meself although I usually get dragged in there sometimes for the sake of sticking together and not losing eachother.

I think Heebie Jeebies is shite.

Its expensive, the music is all from the 70's/80's and is only frequented by students and the likes, most of who think they're better than you are because they wear clear lensed glasses which don't actually do anything - other than make them look like complete nob heads :butt

Heebies has never been the same since they opened the ground floor bit and it became "cool". When it was just the underground floor it was boss.

Its the 'cool' thing I hate about the place.

Krazy house is shit.
Pleasure rooms is very shit.
Newz bar is shit.
Office is shit.
Funky box is shit.
Fudge is shit.....

(I could go on).

-Garlands is sound if they actually let me in (only been allowed in twice, the bouncers are dickheads).
-Meet is decent when they play R&B and the kids aren't in there (which basically means its now shit most of the time).
-Mood is good and has a variety of music
-Bar Cava is always a good place to start off
-Jacaranda is another good starter
-Modo is decent at times
-New revolution is decent
-Igloo (i've been in once and was good)

There's a few.

I've never actually been to Mojo or Bamboo though, what are they like?

My first proper night out in Liverpool was in 1988 and aye it was the Krazyhouse (Powerstation then I think?) and there used to be a pub with an upstairs full of potheads and a band area too, a dingy place but I have no idea what it was called. We went in there for one drink before going elsewhere.

I have to say I think the music in the K is diverse but, well, crap most of the time. I'm a rocker but I haven't heard half of the stuff they play in there now.

These days we just stick to the Swan, we're getting old I think!

I get what your saying Ste, its just the crowd it attracts that I don't like!

Not that I want to go a place were there's a gang of nob heads, but because I go in there NOT dressed like a student and don't wear cashmere jumpers or a scarf around my neck when wearing just a t shirt I often look out of place. Say I go out in a decent pair of jeans, shoes and a nice polo shirt (ralph lauren?) I still feel out of place in there considering every time i've been in there people dress like this:

Basically like a twat.

Saying that, i've only ever been in twice I suppose!

Was in there last night with some bird an i get what you're saying as there's loads of wools in there, half the time they don't even let me in because i'm not a fucking scrounging student, plays some belter tunes though to be fair.

Seen that the Newz bar has finally been shut down. Every time I've been past there late on recently the bizzies have been out.

Yesterday there was a notice on the window saying it had been shut down and a knife arch behind the door!

Did anybody here ever go? What was it like? Looked a bit too full of Tony Montana wannabes for me like!
