Fuuuuuuuck.

My big brother bumping The Infamous and Hell on Earth non stop back when I was a kid was one of the main reasons I got into rap. I know what I'll be listening to tonight.

RIP

Took a couple listens but I'm loving the new Vince Staples. Again maybe not one for your purists, although Vince always going to kill it on the mic anyway, but great music.

Don't understand why people wouldn't love how diverse and boundary pushing hip hop is in 2017. Something for everyone. And always the classics to go back to, of course I've been bumping some Mobb Deep this week too.  8)

I'm with you 100 per cent Bakez. Yet to listen to the full Vince Staples project but loved the 3 songs I've heard.

To me, Hip Hop is the number 1 genre in the world right now and I know I've always been into it from a young age but it is literally blowing everything elsd out the water.

I dont really listen to hip hop for the lyricsism now, basically the majority of the shit I have on Spotify is because it goes hard in the whip

Course I still like kendrick, crooked I etc but there's a shortage of rappers with that level of lyricism imo, that's not a dig like you say it's diverse as hell right now

I think in the US at least the scene has gone too far the other way where actually being able to rap and and have tight bars doesn't matter.  Yes it's good to have something for everyone but man I feel the bar is real low now where it seems like lyrics do not matter at all.  I mean it shouldn't be the case where the jay-z of today could release a album today which on a skill level would shit on 99% of what else is being put out.

In the UK it's kinda different. UK hip hop has always been about bars and actual rapping ability and it hasn't really changed. That's probably cos major record labels and radio stations do not care about UK Hip Hop so the dilution hasn't happened.  Grime is different but thankfully there are still a rappers and produces putting out quality hip hop over here.

On track 5 on the new Jay-Z album and it's great. A lot of samples from No I.D. and Jay is introspective.

He had too.  Beyoncé's last album was here calling out Hov nonstop.  She made so many references to a guy cheating her bad and everyone knew it was Jay.

Remember that clip from the lift where Beyoncé's sister is beating on Jay-Z.

He didn't have to, but I know she was referencing him of course.

Yeah, makes sense in hindsight now why she was pissed, if that's what it was.

Blows away all other rap albums released this year easily, not sure how much replay value it will have though, would have been cool if it had some production from kanye.

Having had listened to Kendrick's album several times, it's quite good, and I dont think this betters it.

Kendrick's gets better with every listen. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it's a 9/10.

Really looking forward to hearing Jigga's new album though, hearing very good things.

Cheers for that man, it sounds awesome on the first couple of listens. I haven't kept up with Jigga's stuff that much over the past few years but this sounds to me like the best thing he's done in ages. Quality beats, great emceeing, more humility than I'm used to hearing from the lad...good shit.

I don't know if it's just me or what but I'm not just into Chance The Rapper. I've listened to Acid Rap, Surf and Coloring Book and I just can't get past his annoying voice.

Each to their own I suppose as it seem's everybody else loves him. Interesting to see his team forced MTV to take off a negative review of him.
