Just what we needed after the Etihad disappointment. We're alright at football aren't we ?

Sterling was fantastic. Gave the Spurs defence a nightmare, constantly a threat with his intelligent runs forward and turn of pace. We started the second half really well, didn't let them back in it. Balotelli worked hard today, just needs to be more clinical. Sturridge may not have scored but he linked up well with Henderson (outstanding today) and Sterling. Gerrard once again with nerves of steel for the penalty, his passing was wayward in the first 45 but he improved in the second half.

Both full-backs were terrific. What a run from Moreno who instantly becomes my favourite LB of all time (not a hard achievement given some of his predecessors but still). Wins the ball, runs 70 yards and bangs in into the net. Instant hero. Manquillo was great too, did all the basics right, got forward to join in on attacks and defensively solid.

Yes there's still flaws to be ironed out with our defence but there will be teething issues when you have a totally new look back five. Nothing that hours on the training pitch won't sort out.

Our passing was very sharp today as was our pressing - Eriksen didn't have a sniff. Brilliant effort from the lads. Rodgers got it spot on with his tactics.

Oh one last thing - are you watching, are you watching, ARE YOU WATCHING REAL MADRID ?!

It's fantastic to have proper full backs again. Makes such a big difference.

Controlled the shit out of that second half. Well in.

Didn't give the ball away much at all the second half
Hit them straight off
Pressured them and played faster
Moreno = that'll do son!!
Sterling - awesome, but HIT THE FUCKING BALL lad! :-)

Can when he came on - superb

Overall, great team performance. Seemed to learn from the mistakes of the first half and rectified them.

Easy.

Thought Sakho looked nervous in the first half but he was outstanding in the second.

Overall we were excellent, the penalty was soft but a legitimate one.

Moreno was excellent, all the new signings look like they're gelling well and fitting in.

Great to keep a clean sheet too.

Good game thought apart from a few minor errors we looked very solid, although my german commentator was very critical of Sakho.

Dyer deserved to cause the peon... And Morenos goal was really really brilliant... He was determined from start to finish to make up for his mistake against City..

What can you say about Spurs... They are a joke especially after thinking that they can beat us after winning two games every top half team would have won...

Comfortable, routine victory against a midtable side, nice to get those 3 points on the board going into the break.

A little disappointing perhaps that we didn't really go for the 4th/5th our play deserved, but a clean sheet was more important mentally. We also saved a lot of energy just sitting deep in our half

Get the fuck in.Brilliant from start to finish. That Moreno goal had be buzzing.Fantastic defensive display from stevie and our attack is boss.
That right peg hits it and you see the future arc of the ball and time goes al gluey like a Dali painting, and for a second there's a 20yr old StevenGerrard and your young self cheering him on through the prism. Moreno looking like Riise in his pomp going forward today. His goal was similar to Riise's in the derby back in 2001.

Great win. Cracking goal from Moreno. Nice to get a clean sheet too.

I think 10 of the 14 players used today were Rodgers signings. An amazing and seemless transition in just 2 years.

Lovren and Sakho first time together and to be honest they did look shaky. Both going for the same ball on numerous occassions.

But they kept a clean sheet.

Good performance. Spurs showed nothing.

Moreno great. Balotelli had a good debut.

That Moreno goal... he was a man possessed.   :shocked :scarf

Moreno and Manquillo are fucking awesome and should always be our first choice FBs.
We looked a lot better shape-wise today and were much better organised.
Spurds were fucking shocking though but that was as much us making them look shit as them actually being shit.

Henderson is fucking awesome.

Sterling a bit greedy a couple of times and should have passed but can't fault the lad, fucking awesome.

Nice to see Can and Markovic coming on, hope to see more in cups etc as I think they both have a big, big future here.
