Not enough leaning.
Mario out!

Loving this signing. Great value and potentially world class. Got all the talent and tools to be one of the best, if not the best, striker in the world.

Disappointed with that lean. Hope that's not the sign of things to come :(

What? That's a lean that looks so natural to him. That's a beautiful lean man.

£16 million for a player of his madness...

Fixed for you. It's a good price when you look at what others have gone for but there's a reason for that.

Despite what all the pundits would have you believe, he's not directly disruptive in the dressing room but there will be lots of frustration among the squad if he does his usual and doesn't put a shift in either in training or on the pitch during a match. He's undoubtedly talented but there's a huge danger he could be another Stevie Ireland, who was also a hugely talented player but just doesn't have the mentality to go with the talent. Brendan will need to ensure that he takes not one bit of shit from him and it will certainly be a test of how much he's matured, if at all.

Steve Peters will certainly earn his corn with Mario around.

Steve Ireland is shit thats why he hasn't done anything his whole career. His "mentality" is bad but so is his actual ability and consistency. I appreciate your input but don't compare a 24 year old Italian international to that tool Ireland.

I love RAWK. When his thread started in the transfer forum it got to 24 pages in a matter of minutes. He actually signs and we struggle to about 5 pages in the same amount of time :D

Welcome Mario

Said my thoughts in the deal in the now closed threat so I will quote here rather than just repeat myself.

Quote
I know this was addressed to PoP but I would also like to answer. I have been very VERY vocal in my desire to not see Balotelli playing for this club.

However, once I see a player leaning on every piece of furniture in Melwood and being sexually harassed by Zaf - it´s a clean slate. The only exception is where a player has done something that I just morally can´t erase like battering his wife or being called Ryan Giggs. Everything Balotelli does just seems like someone who gets bored and looks for ways for self-amusement without really caring about how it impacts on others/club.

There are some people that are just wired differently and the passage of time isn´t going to fix them (Romario was pissing off a hotel balcony onto journalists in his 30's when on National Duty in Brazil). There are some people who just don´t have a childhood and they will always be looking for ways be a kid again, even if just for a few minutes. Then there are some people who get rich and fame so early that is just fucks them up. At 16 I was broke and moving to England alone to look for work. I'd done all manor of stupid things in my teens ranging from playing capture the flag with mates using air-rifles at his family's farm to going crab fishing and then releasing them all in the water fountain of a giant mall type place (if anybody in Bangor, Northern Ireland is reading this, yep - that was me!). We probably all have these stories from when we were 12-15. But I had to mature fast if I was going to survive alone and convince a company to employee a kid over some mature university student. Mario never needed to mature. Every time he became a problem he either got a new boss, a new club or a new country.

I hope, as others have mentioned, that Pirlo did get through to him. That Dr Peters & Rodgers can also. That having a kid has changed him (it did me and most other people will say the same). Something I would like us to do is, similar to with Sakho, give Mario some responsibilities with the local school. I honestly think that would really help him in many ways. Plus can you imagine the entertaining videos Kopkids will give us next year with a potential dance off between Sakho - Balotelli - Sturridge & Ibe.

Regardless of all the potential negatives I seen in signing Balotelli, I always maintained he would be perhaps the most naturally gifted player in the Premier League. You look around at the top players in the league and you see natural talent plus a massive amount of hardwork, dedication & determination. Balotelli is all talent. I´m not sure how much of what you see is down to coaching. Imagine the player Sterling would still be if he wasn´t coachable for example. If we can get Balotelli settled and focused on football then I have no doubt he will be the best player in the league. It´s a big if of course. If there was one club setup in such a way that could make it happen, it´s this one. I have had a feeling all day today, like I had when we signed Suárez, that we are in for one hell of a journey.

Welcome to Liverpool Mario. I'm with you!

1. World class player quota-restored (ableit, at this precise moment, might be regarded as a slight downgrade)

2. Nuttah quota-restored

3. +£59m

I say the first one because that is as it is now.

Everyone knows that the great players (Torres, Owen, Rush, Suarez, Keegan) have their best years at Anfield, I suspect in a couple of months we may regard 1, above, as history.

So we sold a bad boy with a worrying reputation and a long ban over his head for close to maximum value and we bought a player with a tabloid exaggerated reputation for misbehaviour for about a third of what his value ought to be, trousering £49m in the process. Brendan has repaid in added value whatever the club pays him, hasn't he?

The plus side of his low price is that if he is an issue in the dressing room we can freeze him out and everyone will think that's Mario no on can take him.
If United tried to freeze a £60m+ D Maria out due to failure to perform n either training or in the match.

Mario is a risk that financially we can afford to write off if we had to

Not arsed about his off-field stuff. Just seems a very likeable clown to me. Nothing really malicious.

Am arsed about the work rate and decision making stuff but am confident if anyone's going to help him focus, it'll be Rodgers. And for his talent you can't really complain about the price.

This has truly softened the blow of losing Suarez.

An unpredictable player that can do similar wizardry ffrom out of nowhere.

Expect to see some crazy goals from him, just like Luis.

Classy statement from Milan

"MILAN - We worked well together, Mario. We’ve been happy to have had you here and for this we say good-bye and thank-you.

In one year and a half you’ve achieved a lot. You were decisive in our qualification for the Champions League in 2013 and were our top-scorer last season. This is what your Milan thinks of you and this is our chance to confirm it publicly.

There have been lots of memorable moments. The goal-scoring debut versus Udinese, that late winner versus Torino at the San Siro in May last year, the decisive goal against Siena and the screamer against Bologna on Valentine’s Day at the San Siro.

Thank-you for everything and for what you have done at the club. We wish you the very best of luck for your next sporting and professional adventure"

Like the poster who told me I shouldn't compare him to Steven Ireland, I wouldn't be comparing him to Suarez just yet. Suarez had his moments but was truly world-class, never seemed to give less than 100% and could turn matches almost single-handedly. Mario will have his flashes of brilliance but unless Rodgers can change his mentality, there could be much more coasting through games, getting stupid reds and yellows and playing for Mario rather than as part of a team.

However life will never be dull while he's around. Just hide the darts!
