Best thing about him is that he has a plan on how were are to play and he sticks by it. Alot of managers would have flood the midfield and I was calling for that this morning.  But he had the faith in the players and boy did it show.
The board needs to support rodgers in a major way. Two or three top top signings and a few others in and out. If they dont then it will be a big chance of getting back on top gone imo.

Even if we fade a little this season - and I have no reason to expect we will - Rodgers has brought a bit of pride and swagger back to the club this season, our best football and results since Rafa in 08/09.

It's an easy and probably unfair comparison, but you only have to look at Moyes and United to realise that we picked a good one. He's doing the big things and the small things very well. He's giving belief and opportunities to the youngsters, while keeping the senior players on board and revitalised in their hunger and attitude.

The focus now should not be on who the owners are, but limits on what owners can do without formal supporter agreement. At all clubs.

Time for a bumper contract methinks
Really stupid thing to say. Lets wait till the last game of his contract to decide.

Anything else is folly.

That despite some brilliant results he's still young, learning and makes the odd mistake. Can get it perfect some weeks but drop the odd bollock that costs points. Wasn't damning criticism. I don't think any manager is perfect especially at just 41 with not even two years at a top club.

I'd prefer he batters top 7 teams and takes maximum points off them and then drops points against people that aren't threatening for the title.

says we're not going for title and just defending our place and we win 5-1 against the team at the top of the league cause there's no pressure. Genius

He got done by Lambert tactically. Villa were battering us and 2-0 up at Anfield. Brendan saw what was happening and fixed it but his tactical mistake(which lots of people called before kick off) resulted in us dropping two points at home.

Managers make mistakes. What speaks volumes though is that Rodgers made some key adjustments, and using the exact same 11 players we've outscored opponents 12-2 since then (2 against Villa after the change at 30mins, 4-0, 1-1, and 5-1). He's tactically flexible, and knows how to affect games. The issue a lot of times when we drop points is that we don't have anyone that can come off the bench and provide fresh impetus, but that isn't down to him.

A lot of people here pointing out that Brendan learns from his mistakes quickly and changes his game. A lot has to be said about his belief in himself as well. RAWK and the world + their mums all moaned about Stevie being the deepest midfielder. He is persisting. The man cannot be budged. Guess what ? Stevie is improving and growing. Stevie, Hendo and Coutinho didn't work against Villa ? Yeah, we switch it at half time, get the draw, go back to the training and develop a system that gets the maximum out of the same setup.

Greatness always stems from a deep seated belief in yourself. And Brendan has convictions stronger than Titanium. We'll falter, have our usual downs and people will moan again, but rest assured, Brendan Rodgers will do every thing he can to make himself and by association, Liverpool Football Club, a very, very successful name in the coming years.

Craig if someone told me that we'd beat Bayern Munich 4-0 next year and someone else told me that we'd lose to Bayern Munich 4-0 next year I'd simultaneously believe both. This side is very unpredictable and such is the manner of our performances.

But we don't get done 4-0 do we? I know it's possible to envisage it, but we don't get battered.

That's what I like most about this team at the minute. I genuinely believe, had Sturridge been fit that city could have copped it just before Xmas and all. We went one nil up, and with this system you kind of feel that the second is inevitable if the opposition go for us. It's when they don't even when they are behind that we struggle. Chelsea for me are the best around at the moment, really hardworking maurinho side but with so much quality in depth.

Not tempting fate by saying we don't get battered but I think statistically we haven't been absolutely spanked under Rodgers have we. Couple of 3 -0 nils but that's about it.

Fully agree, and the scary thing is, this guy is improving as well, not only the players. Compare the big games this season to the big games last season, it's completely different. Give him time, give him money, give him everything he needs because he'll lead us back to glory. I haven't been as convinced by a manager since Benitez, and considering the huge admiration and love I have for Rafa, that's some compliment.

That. :D

So impressed with him. It seems so obvious to say, but he isn't just winning games, he's setting this team up to win in style. And to do it against direct rivals as consistently as he has this season... fantastic!

I will be stunned if he hasn't got a new deal coming soon - he's been outstanding this season. The attacking football we are playing now is as good as anything I have ever seen, and he more than deserves the opportunity to continue the great progress we are making.

Its probably in his best interests to wait until the end of the season to ask for a new contract. I'm sure he's due for a little pay-rise if things continue in this fashion

I remember when last year few people were comparing him to Hodge around the holiday period. I think its fair to say he has proven everyone wrong, both his biggest critics and supporters probably didn't see us playing this well after just a season and half and after few difficult transfer windows.

Respectfully disagree, don't think we are playing like Rodgers would ideally like us to play. He has devised a way that suits us. Think it's testament to him though that he has gone away from the "death by football" approach he had initially and changed his tactics according to the players available to him. We're all laughing anyway, so guess my point doesn't matter  :P

Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

Given the resources he's done a fantastic job. The development of Henderson, Sterling and Flanagan has been exceptional. The fast pressing style he has shifted towards is far better than the death by possession style of last year.

With the contract situation, I just hope he is better supported by FSG. Granted we are working within the constraints of FFP. But if he isn't given the players he wants (reasonable targets) I can honestly see him moving on.

Our man.

Anyone got this in high res.?

What a job he's doing. The revitalisation of older heads in the team while the nurturing of the young lads is absolutely first class. I fully expected the likes of Jordan Ibe to break it into our team in the near future with Rodgers at the helm.

You can't be more happier with a manager to be honest. The things he has done in the last 18 months have been nothing short of amazing. Yes, amazing. This is the football I hoped we'd play under Rodgers 3 years down the track let alone 18 months. He's set the stalls out and instilled a belief in our squad who have reciprocated with aplomb. We haven't seen for the fearlessness in our team since Rafa's days at the back end of the 2008/09 season.

FSG, you've got a gem here. Back him to the hilt.

First half of last season feels so far away now.

It'll actually be kind of odd to see the news of him "signing a new contract" because I'm so used to managers getting sacked within a year that you never normally hear that one is going to stick around for a little while longer!

Hope he's given one though. Keeping Suarez and getting him a new contract was the biggest signing of this season, and extending Brendan's contract in the summer will be the biggest signing we can make next season.

Really interested to see who his transfer targets are this summer as well. I get the feeling he'll try and bed Ibe slowly into the team from now till May and maybe that'll save us £15m somewhere on the wing.
