Average age of their readers is 59. They are dying off.

I know the rag has a rap sheet as long as your arm but just stand by the newspaper stand and watch the sour faced, supercilious whingers who buy the Mail.

Rag readers, on the other hand, just look like Chelsea and Unted supporters.

Dominic Grieve has described the Mail as like the Nazi party in house journal today. Hope he has no skeletons in the closet.

It's the newspapers treatment of judges that is being compared here. The Daily Mail is seemingly behaving like the press in Nazi Germany were.

The Mail have always been Nazis anyway though.

I don`t know enough about the Daily Mail to evaluate them. It seems people hate them here though. I know Jamie Carragher writes for them and I`ve read some decent enough internet articles on football at least.

They might be awful on politics and other stuff.

Utterly vile excuse for a paper. Regularly prints outright lies and distortions to promote a very unpleasant agenda of bigotry, racism, misogyny and homophobia. Backed the Nazis and British fascists in the 1930s. Attacked single parents and AIDS victims in the 80s. Spent most of the last decade ripping into the poor and Muslims.

No, there's simply similarities being drawn between the media coverage back then and now. the Daily Mail openly supported the Nazis back then interestingly enough

Harold Harmsworth, Founder of the Daily Mail, Nazi sympathiser

His papers were the only ones that urged an alliance with Nazi Germany.  He infamously supported the facist 'Blackshirts' and sent a congratulatory telegram to Hitler after his invasion of Czechoslovakia, calling him 'Adolf the great,' and urged him to invade Romania next.

Yep. I knew I had seen similar to the Mail's headline before.

The German translation is a bit off, it actually says 'Traitors of the people - excluded from the German people'', but the sentiment regarding the judges is the same.  The word 'Volksgemeinschaft', which translates literally as "people's community", has very strong nationalistic (and racial) connotations (though maybe only through nazi usage). I can't read the actual small print (thank fuck, probably).

Do you really compare the Nazis with Brexit?

To be fair we are all used to assuming Godwin's Law tells us that something being compared to Nazism has reached a ridiculous point.

In this context, we are looking at a newspaper attacking the Rule of Law, and it has encouraged people up and down the country to question a mere idea of an indepedent judiciary. Through lies and straight up propoganda. This is quite a big deal and usually Godwin's Law is said about arguements about superficial things, maybe a discussion that is driven to somewhere silly therefore we all have the same reaction, 'Nazi? Psshtt Stop it.'

Look at this context, a regular daily paper that is one of the worst right wing paper attacking a fundemental British society tenant, for no basis in reason. Just plain up hateful ediorials followed by lies and leading a frothing mob in a very politically sensitive time.

Comparing that newspaper to what helped Nazism rise is exactly what people need to see to hopefully shock them in understanding at the sheer lunacy that all of this is.
