Played in a genuine 4-1-2-3 today and didn't look out of place. Very impressive.

What a time to crank up the performance level lad, looked a country mile better today. His close ball-control in tight areas is unreal. Did a fantastic job from a deeper position today, brilliant!

Very very good today. Pressing and ball retention ability today was sublime, like a little terrier.

I have full faith that if he plays like that again we'll be able to easily overcome the Baggies with Henderson and Gerrard as the others.

I guess when Coutinho plays in the middle of the park, you can see the marked difference in performance level.

Thought he was brilliant and his quick feet helped so much in midfield, he is the perfect player to drop in assist the midfield, help keep possession and also turn on the ball then start attacks.

I like in him that area, I think he performs better when he's central, under pressure but with options around him. A few times he popped the ball around onrushing players or played intelligent 1-2s to relieve pressure.

His best performance of the season.

I think he was the key player for us today. He played in a slightly different role and helped us not to become overpowered in midfield. He put a great shift in defensively as well as making key contributions in attack. His best game for us in a while.

Great defence, I did not see that coming from him. Helped Gerrard with a easy, short way out too, and it's just impossible to take the ball from him.

Just had the performance that Barkley was meant to have.
TBF he actually had an end product, so not sure he's earned the Barkley comparison just yet.

If he can play like that at the tip of the 3 in midfield it gives us a few more options with the injuries, he obviously has the quality on the ball but his pressing was great today and that's the only thing i thought we might miss compared to Henderson in that position.

Just having him effective in that position in terms of his pressing all of a sudden gives us a greater options in midfield and he obviously possesses great quality in the final third in terms of his passing.

A bit early to say he's back but if he can do that consistently we'll make top four easily. He was brilliant today.

Coutinho back? I thought this was one of his best performances ever, all-around. He has never shown this kind of work rate and defensive skills before. He was asked to do a lot more than he usually does in this game, and he did.

This is the kind of stuff that can take him to WC.

Great little player, he is.

That one little run where he carried the ball out of defense past two or three of their midfielders was great. Going on the back of my next shirt.

He's the perfect player to have in midfield when the opposition are pressing like Everton did tonight.  A couple of shimmies or a smart run and suddenly he's away and in acres of space.
Sit down, shock is better taken with bent knees.
