Its with great sadness that RAWK announces the passing of one of RAWK's earliest members and a great friend to many on here, Steve, known as Ewok on here.

On behalf of all of us at RAWK we pass on our thoughts and condolences to his family and to all of you who knew Steve.

He was a red, a decent good man and a proper friend to those who knew him. RAWK and the world is poorer for his loss.

A lovely man, a RAWK founder and ex-mod on here, and a friendly face at games from L4 to the banks of the Bosphorus. Very sad news, my thoughts are with his family and his many good friends on here.

Thanks. Steve Ewok was also a tireless youth worker in Liverpool, first with Interchill and later in the north end. He saw and dealt with the immediacy of Joseph Lappin's murder, and was a driving force behind the out of the blue festival in Everton Park. I first met Steve at the match in the 90s, but in the 12 years I worked in Liverpool our paths crossed at work many times as he was pivotal in working on behalf of young people, which extended into helping young musicians too. A truly great, gentle, selfless but tough man. Here's Steve, me and SPLee arriving back into Manchester Airport post Istanbul

A sad, sad day, as Bob K said Steve was there for so many at difficult times, myself included, I have a lot to thank my mate Ewok for, I have and will miss him...

There's lots of memories over the last 15 years knowing him, I hope you can see from those photos above though that our trip to Istanbul was special as it was for us all, here is a message sent last May from Steve....

'Just to thank you for amazing times 10 years ago. Unforgettable . Happy Days. Joy to DWT (Dave white travel). To our wonderful German comrades. To heart as big as my city, to no singing status fuckin quo, to stage collapsing, to a banner too big to get in a cab, to dodgy people paying for our meal and getting into their blacked out cars, and so much more. Love to you all. Ewok x'

We got the banner to the stadium eventually, loads of taxis were driving straight past us, Ste says to me hide round the corner he flags a few down who when they saw the flag said no and drove off shaking their heads, in the end Ste offered to pay this guy extra for it...deal!! Taxi to ataturk!!
