Looking at that picture, I'd say our new capacity is going to be around the 65,000 mark.

Here is a quick update, with the bad weather this week not much happening on the outside of the building so the pictures are a general look over the site.

i did manage one over the fence which gives you a look at the lower section and podium.

fingers crossed we get better weather this week and the Kop roof end section goes up.

What would happen then to the structure they are building now?

Why would it need replacing? I imagine unless something has gone particularity wrong, that concrete and steel will last for donkeys.

They'll of carried out a full survey on the existing anyway I'd expect and will be more than informed on it's potential lifespan.

A lot of it has already been replaced and/or strengthened over the years I suspect.

I've just redeveloped a building on Regent Street in London and parts of the retained structure were 200 years old and the main steel frame was over 100 years old. There are loads of Victorian iron framed buildings that are still going strong and will be going strong for another hundred years or more and many that are much older.

That girder is 650 tonnes apparently. I'm all for a visually dominant and 'heavy-looking' roof but it seems like a sledgehammer to crack a nut compared to other new roofs.

I'd always assumed it's oversize look was a deliberate part of the design. This it looks even larger at the minute due to there not being a full roof under/behind it, once that is all up and clad I imagine it'll make it look a little smaller.

Lifting the Kop end roof support if weather was ok today (seems to be) but no idea of that happened. Will obviously be shut down until next week then but the exterior brick work should make a fairly quick and sizeable visual impact.
