Sorry, Changed it. Happy to have two of the greatest all-rounders of all time in my team. Might end up having 8 batsmen and 5 top class bowlers at this rate.

Never sure how current players are judged against the legends but Steyn's average and especially strike rate compare favourably with the very best.

Yes, he may look like a Fraggle but he's a damn fine bowler.

Yeah, although 4 is quite a lot. Maybe it should have been 3 to make it tougher. I'm gonna go around each nation and select one great player and then there shouldn't be any more than 4 from one nation in the last couple of picks.

Steyn is insanely underrated .

He played in the most batsmen friendliest era and still has the records as good as most ATG great fast bowlers.

I have never seen any fast bowler dominate Indian batsmen in our flat wickets like Steyn did at times .Pretty sure he did the same to Aussies in Australia as well.Arguably the two best batting line ups (at home) and flattest conditions as well during his period.

He easily belongs among the top echelon

Spot on Chalky lad. That's what I'm talking about.

The Pakistani one went 2 picks later.

I did wonder... although he was a brilliant all-rounder so the shout wasn't entirely unbelievable!

Don't think we were kidding about Derek Pringle though.

Oh yeah was definitely kidding. Kallis is the greatest all around for me. It's close between Sobers and him but personal preference is Kallis.

Different types of all rounders out there. Kallis was a genuinely world class batsman who was also a very decent bowler which gave the Saffers such balance. In terms of those classic all rounders from the 80s who all batted a little further down the order but all did more bowling than Kallis then I agree that Imran was the pick.

Just looked into it some more as I'm a stats nerd! Always remember someone saying that an all rounder is someone who's batting average is higher than their bowling average.

Kallis and Sobers lead the way here, Sobers batting average is 23.75 higher than his bowling, and Kallis's 22.72. Both helped by averaging over 55 with the bat.

Next highest I could find was Imran with a difference of 14.88. There's an Aussie from the Sobers era who can almost match that.

Impressively there's someone playing Test cricket today (literally) with a batting average 9 higher than his bowling average.

God bless cricinfo!

As a stats lover if u study Imran's stats , one half of his career he was an average batsman but world class bowler but in the A cond half of his career he was a good bat but average bowler .I am not sure there is another all rounder who has such disparity within their career span.
