Arry will keep honest Scotty Parker as captain the fucking tax dodging c*nt

If he does, then Pearce has (perhaps unwittingly) played a blinder for him. No massive uproar if Parker remains the captain, as it will be viewed as continuity. If England get thrashed by Holland and Parker is awful, then Pearce has made Redknapp's job easier in having him not be captain

Dirk starting for Holland.

Not ideal but hopefully he'll get on the scoresheet.

Captaincy who cares and does it really matter. Gerrard shouldn't even accept the captaincy if it's given to him. I don't understand why anyone would want to be in the centre of the fallout when the inevitable happens at the Euros. Pearce should be given the job full-time he's the right man to lead England.

I've never been that bothered either way before, but with this country's London-biased media supporting them,  I now want them to lose every time.

I stopped reading any papers a while back , but i know what you mean . Theres so much that pisses me off about the England set up , but growing up watching them in World Cups has stuck with me and i do normally want thyem to win .   But when they get knocked out in the QF's i dont lose any sleep over it .

I think they've probably already discussed it?

Scott Parker, the new Beckham!

I said that to my OH.  Peter Taylor brought Beckham in while he was caretaker, now Pearce has done the same thing here.

They've been like that for a while haven't they? Their strength has been their forward players like those 3 and other like Afellay, Huntelaar, Van Der Vaart. Obviously not all of them in the class of the ones starting today but still good footballers.

To be fair, aside from Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard, Ince, Murphy, Beckham, Barnes, Redknapp, Wise, Gazza, Milner, Wilshire, Barry, Taylor, Sherwood and about 35 others he's up there...

Yup. I think it's debatable who the last great Dutch centre mid was, 'cos I happen to think Van Bommel was one myself. I really can't think of a top draw Dutch defender since Stam though. Not at centreback.

Fucks sake, just put SSN on, and someone's interviewing England plebs outside Wembley about Parker and the captaincy.  Two or three saying that he's one for the future, and got a few years ahead of him.  Don't they realise that they're both the same age!!!!

I'd still consider van bommel a great central midfielder, he has been great for milan, this year especially.

Can't say I'm looking forward to this, and just hoping Pearce proves me wrong. Though his choice of captain doesn't bode well in that respect.

Still, it lowers expectations to new levels so shouldn't be disappointed, whatever the outcome.
