This is something that a handful of dedicated and pretty f*cking wonderful members of this forum have been involved with.

Nearly three decades after the Hillsborough disaster, reporter Peter Marshall - who was there on the day 96 people died - examines new evidence behind some of the shocking headlines and stories that smeared the Liverpool fans in 1989.
 
In a special edition, this documentary in the Exposure strand also investigates concerns about how survivors, witnesses and their testimony were treated.

Looking forward to watching this. The Anfield Wrap has done a great episode recently touching on some of this when discussing the Don't buy the *** campaign and how it has been maintained but also been confused over the years.
This bothers me so much as the Smears were believed by many in the general population and also by other football supporters...even though as is quoted
"would you do these things?, then why would the f*** would you think that I would" resonates so much highlighting peoples preconceptions of working class cities such as Liverpool at the time.

The reality is that the smears are still believed by large sections of the population and are reinforced on a daily basis. SYP and certain individuals use every opportunity they can to smear the fans and to propagate the lies. They repeat the myths over and over again.

That is why it is vital to get this programme and what will follow as much publicity as possible.

They are still to this day pushing the line that there was no cover up and we simply cannot let them get away with it.

We have recently seen the disgraceful decision to refuse the Orgreave campaigners a further inquiry. So if you do only one thing this weekend then email, tweet and publicise this documentary. The decisions over criminal prosecutions are imminent and it is vital that we keep up the pressure.

There are things that I have not seen published and publicised. There is a huge amount of information published as a result of the HIP and Inquests. There has been some awe-inspiring work gone on to join the dots and decipher that material. Even now the gall of the SYP is jaw dropping.
