Must win ?

Goes without saying. If we want to win the league we'll have to eclipse our 11 game winning streak of 13/14 the way Chelsea are playing at the moment. Don't think we'll manage it but take each game as it comes.

Chelsea are due a bit of a stumble, though, plus they still need to play us again.

A very proud Granddad. Youngest Grandson has his first game today. Sorted him and the son-in-law a pair of tickets. So not just for me, but for a 6 year old who needs to be hook, line and sinkered and to fall in love with the club, stick 4 past this lot today please lads.

Quality mate, hope he loves it and fairs better than I did on my first (sort of)  Boxing Day game.  Lost to Leicester in about 84, my Dad threatened to never take me again!

Is Sturr rumored to start? There is a cheeky 21/1 bid for him to score first on bet365 and I am tempted..

I would guess on the bench. Who would he drop? Origi?
I guess he could go Origi-Sturrige with a diamond, but I would be surprised.

Nah.  Same team as the one against Everton with the possible exception of Matip coming in if he's fit.

Its a home game and irrespective of the league position (or on this occasion, as well as!) its a must-win

Making Anfield a fortress again is a major step towards achieving not just this season's aims, but setting a standard for other seasons to come. Don't underestimate Stoke either, but put the fuckers to the sword and keep sticking it in once you're on top. Would like to see a lot more ruthlessness from the side to be honest and  for us to build a reputation like we used to have.

Quietly confident, but would never be blase enough to think we'll romp it. Get the win and put one more home game away with 3 points. A clean sheet would be the best outcome as well.

On the game, Arnautovitch being out makes me happy. Kind of always rated him to be honest, especially against us. Be good to see Allen back but not on the winning or drawing side of course.

We were late getting in that day due to the queues (almost sure it was pay on the gate). We knew someone had scored, couldn't believe it when we got in and it was them.

I really want to see Sturridge and Origi upfront again at some point in the next few games. I think we may see one start today, one on Saturday and then both on Monday with Firmino rested. I'd imagine Klopp has decided on his line-ups for the three games a while back.

Still pissed off with the rest we have between these 3 games compared to Chelsea. How the fuck was that given the go ahead? c*nts.

An easy win today would be great. 3-0 up at half time then just stroll about the park for the second. A helter skelter 5-4 is not welcome at all, although I would settle for it.

It's annoying as hell BUT we have not had to deal with 2 games in 48 hours since 2008 so actually we can't complain too much as probably every other club has had to deal with it in that time.

I always put a lemonade top on  the first one at that age.

Regarding today, he may want to let Sadio sit this one out and try a formation we will be using while he's at the Africa Cup. Back in for City and Sunderland

What does "must win" mean?

Will the sky fall in if we draw? Will we look back in May and say " we missed out on everything because we didn't beat Stoke on 27th Dec.
if we lose this game and then win every other game on the way in, we'd have 97 points. That would be enough I think.
But then if we win this game then only lose the last game of the season, then we would have...97 points.

I just want to win, in style would be nice, but three points will do. If we don't I'm not giving up. Unlike all the "must win" crowd, who presumably will give up, no?

It is a disgrace actually, it's fucking disgusting a team gets such an advantage regardless of our positions in the league. Not an excuse for anything, we've got the squad to twat City then make changes and beat Sunderland but it's still really poor, dont see how that can be disputed. Southampton got it even worse somehow, appalling management of the games.

If we are aiming at keeping the title hopes alive, then every game IS a must-win.

They had three games in six days in 93/94 according to this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993%E2%80%9394_Manchester_United_F.C._season. It was similar the season afterwards.
