Agreed.  If we dont lose him for free I will be amazed. I also would not be at all surprised to see him blame LFC for everything when he leaves

In the last four games he has played for us - in three of them he was very good.

He is looking more confident recently.

Ends next season.

If i was comolli i would be thinking we need to sell as this bloke for whatever reason is making it here and we need to cash in a move on before we lose him on a free.

If a player delivers on a Saturday then training doesn't really matter.

The problem with that is it infects the rest of the squad, players (especially younger ones) that actually need to put the effort in on the track on a tuesday morning start to look over at the "stars" and their can't be arsed attitude and think that's the way to do it. Before to long you've got an overwieght, unfit squad who get found out by lesser teams who actually work harder then they do at training, and therefor CAN work harder on matchday. This was a core philosophy of Rafa and also why we ended up thumping teams like Real and Barca, through sheer workrate.
WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!

Normally a player can look great on tubes, but one of the things that's encouraging for me is just the amount of youtube videos on him

He's just not very good. We're clinging to the hype in the hope that he miraculously develops a brain. Saying that I'd still have him in the side because he's got the attributes we desperately lack, which is proof of just how dire our options are at the moment.

He is a point-him-at-the-goal-and-give-him-the-ball type player. IMO he is no more frustrating than Garcia was, the difference is instead of finding some sliderule backheel that looks super intelligent, he goes round a defender and knocks one in from 40 yards

I can assure you training is not his problem.

The main reason is the manager's tactics and preferences for certain players. Sure some games he doesn't perform well and that's a problem but even when he does he can't get a sniff in the regular team let a lone get enough time from the bench.

Also unfortunately he is a confidence player.

The difference between Garcia and Ryan, is that Garcia produced, and did it in the big games.

I'm not knocking Ryan here.  I'm not so stupid to realise that he's still quite young.  I'd love to see him reach his potential too.  I just think he needs to be trusted by a manager.

Maybe Rafa got a message to Roy and is still picking our line up's :lickin

Babel needs games if he's ever going to turn into quality. I compare this guy with Nani. Both seemingly worthless, except the latter got given a lot of games after he was dropped for being shite.

I doubt Roy sees much in training at all. Training is different to a match and you react different. giving a player a sense of "hey you're one of us" and the grantee of games providing the said player remains completely committed to the club and to developing yourself into a great player. He can't show it all on the training pitch Roy. Players are 'made' playing games. My Manc cousin said Berbatov was made against us :no but my point is. Nani, Berbatov, Flecher,  their  Brazilian RB and even Anderson seems to have 'developed' something that Roy knows fuck all about. for as long as i can remember Anderson was absolute shite n couldn't see anything good about him. I watched the Arsenal game and he was the stand out for me. For me there is a trend there and its not just down to luck or bullshit decisions. It's clubs like Barca and and a fair few other La Liga clubs, both Milan's and United that focus on buying near polished gems to raw talent, or from their academy, which yields an almost limitless level of talent/potential and mould those players into the team, one club men..... well with united being a selling club recently, they're still willing to invest in even in an almost unknown talent in ......fuck the name has....Bebe! so who the fuck is Bebe? i don't know, but it's possible i will know in a few years

Lucas has developed nice with Rafa, and since then Roy has relied on him... not looking at the bigger picture and perhaps tinkering positively, and having a real go.... it's like he's just doing it by the book until he gets rescued. The sooner we get Roy out of our managerial position then we can look to move ahead. Finding someone straight away is the hard part, but i think it will happen by the end of Jan and i'm confident that a club with all our prestigious history and it's integrity will simply not allow for this dire situation for too much longer. And anyone saying Dalglish as caretaker is nuts, if we were to get him on a long term deal then yes. We need a manager folks. one with natural will to win. I thi

Babel has had games, he has had chances and has consistently proved himself to be, at best average, at worst shite.

Berbaflop had an outstanding period of time at Spurs and has struggled at times with the Mancs, but has proven ability before bacon face got a grip on him. Are you saying that the other manc twats are quality players and have reached their potential ? I dont get your point with any of them ? Not one of those players warrant the praise you appear to heap on them.

Reds reject Babel bid
Birmingham fail in fresh bid to sign Dutchman on loan
By Pete O'Rourke   Last updated: 28th December 2010

..Skysports.com understands Liverpool have rejected a loan offer from Birmingham City for Ryan Babel.

Birmingham have been long-term admirers of the Holland international and tried to sign Babel during the last January transfer window.

A summer move to St Andrews was again mooted for the attacker, while Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were also showing an interest in the 24-year-old.

Babel has continued to struggle to make an impression at Anfield and has started only one Premier League game for Liverpool this season.

With the transfer window set to reopen, Babel's future has again come under scrutiny, with Birmingham making a fresh attempt to sign the former Ajax youngster.

Blues boss Alex McLeish is keen to add a more incisive element to his squad next month and tried to bring in Babel on a temporary basis.

However, it is understood to have been rejected by the Reds as McLeish's counterpart Roy Hodgson seeks to keep his current squad intact.

I think you are correct as Alonso was woeful at times. I am unsure how Roy didn't see this, and try to use it.

Not just because he scored but I'm glad RH put Cole on rather than Babel. Babel just doesn't add to any football we want or need to play. There's some big c*nts in Bolton and Ryan would have just kept running in to them, Cole was the right choice, albeit 10 mins later than necessary.

It was the right call to keep Babel onto the bench, since Cole scored the winner, right  ;) Anyway, I'd much rather see Babel on the wing in a starting XI role than Kuyt - who is, and has always been a striker out of position since the day Torres came around.
Mourinho to Spurs when Redknapp leaves, was a discussion I had with a friend in the pub last night. Possible.

I would have loved to see him instead of Cole. Cole scored an easy one, but whatelse did he contribute? Missing passes and offside positions in less then a couple of minutes.

Prefer Babel over Cole anytime, hope Babel gets another chance next game cause he played really good this season when given the chance.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

He did a lot of running and closing down, did himself proud if you ask me.  Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a start under Kenny.
