Sad to learn of this.

Saw the news about his collapse yesterday - hadn't been aware that he was working (and presumably building a second career) with Spurs.

I always remember him as partnering Gareth Southgate at Villa and them seeming a strong and classy pairing.  I'm surprised at how young he was actually - 44 now would have made him 23 when he made the move to Villa.  Certainly talented beyond his years in my memory of him.

His career in coaching was just taking off so it seems. Managing Spurs U23's is quite a big deal and surely would have led him to bigger things

As a player he was really unlucky to have been around when the country was stacked with quality centre backs. Where he playing today, he'd be a regular at international level.

Condolences to his family. So sad to hear the news.
I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

RIP.  A really good defender in his day, and by all accounts a very nice guy.
He co-founded a record label, Dirty Hit, that Wolf Alice and The 1975 are signed to.

That's two stalwarts of that good Villa 90's side to have died in the last year.  Far too young.

Always thought he was a notch or two better than the clubs he played for.

Yeah, always thought it was strange he signed for Boro from Villa. Seemed too good to be going there at the time.
