Best right back we've had since Finnan and if he carries on for a few more seasons like this he will have been our best right back since the 70's and 80's.

Love how for years people moaned at Johnson for being shit at defending and now we finally have a proper right back who can defend we get 'but he doesn't create enough going forward.' Impeccable defender, rarely gives it away, fast and always an option as an outball and on the overlap. And he can actually whip in a few decent crosses and cut backs. Perfect right back.

In contention for player of the season?  Played 50 games so far and has been consistently good throughout.  What a signing.

Has to go close. He's been immense. Always loved him and was absolutely made up he chose to come to us.

One improvement I've noticed in the last 6 weeks is his ability to read to play. Would love to see how many intercepts he's had. Seems to win almost everything he goes for.

Good shout, but he won't get it, even though he arguably deserves it. Player of the season awards usually go to a player who makes a great highlight reel; Coutinho, Sturridge, Firmino etc. Or a centre back who has been a rock. Not a dependable, first class right back. I mean how many people have been raving about Fuchs and Simpson? It's Morgan and Huth who have been getting all the plaudits in defence.

He is a player who is already being taken for granted. We all just expect him to be great. I remember after the game in the Europa at Old Trafford he wasn't his usual mercurial self in the first half and the knives were out for him. Possibly his only poor minutes in a Liverpool shirt. He will be our right back for years. 25 now so his peak is about to happen. He could turn the 7 out of 10 performances each week into 8 out of 10 performances, with the occasional top marks and maybe even one poor one thrown in there.

12m? An absolute steal in todays market and (sorry, boring cliche) when you consider how important the 'modern full back' is.

For the full season, absolutely. At times during the fall he was one of very few not embarrassing himself on a regular basis.
He was good from the first minute, as I remember it.

So fucking immense yesterday. Superb buy. So happy that we have a proper RB at Liverpool. Johnson was good but his last few years in Liverpool were so inconsistent shit. We were crying out loud for a replacement and finally we have him in Nathaniel.

50 games he's played this season is it?

That in itself is worth its weight in gold never mind the sheer level of consistency across those 50 games.

Always the same solidity, intensity and dependability every single game.

Aside from Martial nobody has gotten the better of him, I wouldnt swap him for anyone else in the league.

Really coming into some form lately. Clyne has been a solid defender all season, but he has been a very good outlet on offense the last month or so. He is taking up excellent positions for short crosses without having to beat his man off the dribble. Just been in the right place at the right time, which is something that Klopp seems to be very good at coaching.

Those crosses though have served to cause consternation for the oppo. Sometimes we score from the havoc that creates. We don't score from them often enough, cause we're just not that sort of team atm, but if he was in a side who looked to score as much from headers as they do in open play, he'd have racked up the assists already.

Agree with all of that. Player of the season for sheer consistency and for always being available for selection.

Now, as a Liverpool full back he needs to continue in the great tradition of Neal, Kennedy, Tommy Smith, Markus Babbel and score in a European final.  ;D

was at fault for Dortumund's 3rd goal (Reus) but it doesn't count since they'll be teammates next season. ;)

Purely on nailing a 7 or 8 out of 10 every match he plays, agree with player of the season for us. Everyone knew he was a good right back coming here, and he's just carried on being that.

I think this is improving. He may not make the final ball or the actual pass or cross that directly assists the goal but he makes plenty of crosses like he did for the first goal against Villareal. Was a beauty of a ball which the keeper obviously got to but there wasn't really any hope for the keeper regardless of whether he touched it. If we continue to flood the box like that then Clyne's balls (careful now) will wreak havoc (very careful now ;D).

Arbeloa I'd say, he was quality.

Loved Arbeloa but this guy is a level above him imo.

Have to echo what most in here are saying. PoTY for me, just edging out Lovren and Can.

If he's not our primary RB for the next 5+ years then we've fucked something up terribly or Trent AA is special (not out of the realm of possibility).

The last position we need to upgrade is right back. We're sorted there for next half dozen years with Clyne.

Either some good trolling going on here or you need to increase the dosage of your medication. The lad is a top full back and will hopefully keep that position locked down for the next 5 years or more. He's just turned 25, yet to hit his peak.
