I imagine Johnson must be playing the longer game here. Plays a background part in a May Govt, one which has to deal with the fall out from leaving the EU, then goes for a leadership shot further down the line.

Sabre-rattling from Johnson.

He'll expect a surge in anti-EU feeling to cause a shitstorm in the media as "he" was the face of the out head of the referendum which was won.

He'll throw his hat back in at a later date.

Boris obviously didn't want to win the Out campaign. The minute he did, he'd lost as he knows whichever decision he makes in the future will piss some group or other off as he'd have to betray a promise. Fucking politicians though.

That would be my take, a close remain win would of seen off Cameron and left Johnson as the obvious candidate to unite the Party and take them forward. Things spiralled out of control Leave won and not even Boris is Bonkers enough to press the article 50 self destruct button.

Johnson wasn't popular with the MP's but he was with the members, who will ultimately decide who wins. Hopefully (cannot believe I am saying this) that will result in the members piling their support for May.

Both of them all along wanted a narrow defeat for Leave so they could further their careers. Gove is a wanker just as much as Johnson is, but at least he isn't ruling himself out of a leadership race he wanted.

check mate by David Cameron I guess, my bet Johnson was hoping Cameron was gonna do the deed when it came to article 50.

My guess? Johnson will bide is time until someone else triggers it, everything turns to shit, and he will be the knight in shining armour.

May and Gove were the only candidates who voted for Gay marriage, Ledsom abstained and Crabb and Fox (c*nt) voted against it. All 5 voted against accepting 3000 child refugees.

I imagine Johnson must be playing the longer game here. Plays a background part in a May Govt, one which has to deal with the fall out from leaving the EU, then goes for a leadership shot further down the line.

Agreed - he will bide his time. He knows that this is a poisoned chalice and if he were to step in - he would be ridiculed left, right and centre.

same with Gove though surely? Why on earth would the Tories want another GE anyway?

For me article 50 will for sure happen, no matter what party is in power, unless a second referendum happens.

Surely now he will be backing May? The membership and MP's supporting Johnson will have seen this as Gove stabbing Johnson in the back and support her?

I wouldn't be jumping to any conclusions  here. Johnson and May have had their differences. Boris' support could go a number of ways.
