CILLA BLACK DEAD AT 72

Spanish police have announced Cilla Black has died at her Spanish home.

The singer and TV presenter's home in Marbella was the centre of pollice activity today, with a Spanish police spokeswoman saying Priscilla White - the star's real name - had died aged 72.

She added: “We are still awaiting autopsy results but everything at this stage is pointing towards her death being the result of natural causes.”

The star, hit the big time in the 1960s with her number one singles Anyone Who Had A Heart and You're My World.

In 2013 Black celebrated her 50 years in showbusiness. Other highlights in her glittering career including hosting Blind Date and Surprise Surprise.

Tributes are already beginning to pour in to Cilla from across the showbiz world and social media.

My granddad knew her really well when she was young....

Didn't realise she was as young as that, thought she was well into her eighties. Sad news nonetheless.

Think it was on one of Parkie's chat shows where he had Cilla and Paul McCartney on the couch together; must have been a good 25 years ago now. They got talking about Rushworth's, and the conversation just unravelled from there, chatting about "such and such a place round the back of whatisname - oh you mean that little shed by Harry's? - yeah that's the one, was it still Harry's by then?" (paraphrasing there of course).

It was charming, captivating. Parkinson was completely cut out of the conversation - just these two venerable scousers rambling on about all these little corners of Liverpool, and if you weren't from the city you wouldn't have a clue what they were talking about. But I knew that every scouser watching it would be nodding along, like they were overhearing a conversation in a pub or something.

Perhaps my memory is playing tricks on me and making it seem more nostalgic than it was, but I remember it as one of the most touching moments in television I've ever witnessed.

SKY News just reporting it, BBC not reported it yet.

Couldn't stand her so not too cut up, remember she wrote to Major congratulating the Tories for winning in 92 election, sad for her family but read stories of her being quite vile to anyone who met her.

In spite of anything else she was a very talented lady, and tributes are pouring in from all over the world from some very famous names. That goes to show how far her talents reached and how well liked she was. I don't think she was ill, she was on TV not too long ago and seemed fine, although me and my Mum commented that she was acting odd and whatever. 72 isn't very old these days, but perhaps she had a bit of dementia or something (sorry to speculate, but it was just something that we commented on).

Anyway, may she rest in peace.

Well that news was a surprise surprise.

I could care less about her views on politics. She was part of an era where Liverpool was iconic for music that is still celebrated today and still generates millions to this city.
