Arsenal (A) - 1 (it's Emirates)
Burnley (A) - 3
Spurs (A) - 1 (hardest to predict, just as unpredictable team as us)
Leicester (H) - 1 (typical low block team, struggle to break down, or worse, score 1 and don't know what to do with the lead, getting more and more nervous and finally concede)
Chelsea (A) - 0 (I have already watched this game. It happened in preseason. This game and all future games against Chelsea will be same until the likeable Jose is their coach. )

So yeah 6 from 5. With a bit of luck, 8 (convert one of the draws in Wins at Emirates or WHL) Which isn't horrible considering 3 of the tough away games will be done. But the likes of Al, Fordy, bcurtis, King Klopp and few others will be out in force telling us how things are horrible and some of the signings are clearly committee signings. It will be a bad period for RAWK.

Have to beat Arsenal, have to beat Burnley. Everyone has to beat Burnley and Hull. Take 6 points to Spurs. Can't look beyond that for me. Do the first important bit, then follow it up.

Anyone seen these two together? bcurtis starts posting not long after Fordy leaves, and posts at about the same daily rate...

Actually, scratch that conspiracy theory, bcurtis thinks Henderson should be a starter.

I'd take 9 points, anything above that is gravy.

I'll say 10 think we might have a draw and a loss somewhere. That would be a great start to the year considering our schedule than we just need to capitalise on it in our next 5 games against the weaker teams which is where we have struggled in the last 5-10 years.

Surprised many seem to expect a draw at Leicester. I know they are champions, but I don't think they are actually that good and Kante is such a huge loss.

Arsenal (A) - 3
Burnley (A) - 3
Spurs (A) - 1
Leicester (H) - 3
Chelsea (A) - 1

That would be a cracking start, but very achievable. I will be very disappointed if we do not take advantage of Arsenal's injury problems.

Depending on how quickly Chelsea settle a win there too would not be that surprising. Spurs will be tough. There would be no shame in getting beat at their place really.

Ready to donate my left testicle if we can get 11 from the first 5..

Would be delighted to see us start the season with 3 away wins in the bag  :D

Probably one of the toughest starts to call because the results could easily go either way in all 5 games.
Premier League

Premier League winners:Manchester City

Champions League qualification: 2nd-4th Manchester United, Arsenal, Spurs

Europa League qualification: 5th-6th Chelsea, Liverpool

Premier League relegated teams: 18th-20th West Brom, Burnley, Hull  :wave

9 Points out of 15 would be a decent start   :D

Keeping up with the 2ppg required to qualify to champions league next season, about 7-9 points from the first 5 games should be the minimum target. That puts at 3 wins and 2 losses. Or 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss.

If we are to challenge/win the pl anything less than 13 points from the first 5 games won't be enough.
I'm confident we'll get a minimum of 11 points from these 5 games.

From that scenario 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss would be preferable. Taking points of our direct opponents is very important.

Going to be a lot of disappointed people if they're genuinely 'expecting' 13 points from these five games. I haven't looked extensively at other sides' fixtures but I can't imagine any of our rivals having a tougher start. 9 points - be it 3 wins or 2 wins and 3 draws - would be a perfectly good start.

Eh, I know we probably won't get 13 and I agree 9 would be a perfectly good start, but I don't think 13 is necessarily impossible.

Beat Burnley and Leicester and avoid losing to the other three and we'll be looking good.

The thread is titled 'what do you expect' (from post break-up seeeex) rather than 'what do you hope' as most people seem to have taken it, though...

Leicester at home for example is far from a given. In fact, although we beat them last season, it's the exact type of game we tend to struggle in. A deep defence combined with pace on the break. Maybe I'm being negative but a draw from that wouldn't be a disaster.

Nine would probably be a good target. Win the home and the easy away, draw the three big aways. Hard to say how tough those four big fixtures will be, but we're Liverpool and we shouldn't be expecting to roll over when the big clubs come to play.

11 pts. I think the crux of it will be the game at Spurs. We will underestimate Burnley, then go into the Spurs game full of piss and vinegar. Them not playing at WHL will help. It will help with the confidence when playing Leicester at home. Chances are we won't lose again because of a wonder goal. Contents a very pragmatic manager. I think he will play the style that will win even if they are at home.

Leicester will be hard to break down and keep their defensive shape.  3 points at plastic waving fans just because it fun to see them fume.

But as usual 15 points will be ideal scenario

Unless the team are dissecting this thread I'm not sure it really matters mate.

I'll go for 11 if we beat Arsenal and 7 if we don't. I know it's obvious but we rarely win there and a win means going into Burnley with maximum points, and surely we can dispatch them, and then Spurs looks a lot better prospect if we go into it with 6 points as it becomes basically a 'free' game.

Why are so many of you so afraid of Spurs?

Arsenal (A) - 1
Burnley (A) - 3
Spurs (A) - 1
Leicester (H) - 1
Chelsea (A) - 3

9 points and I'll be very happy. 7 or 8, not the end of the world either.
