Great news.

Like the bit about Sterling too (club would let him run his contract out before selling him to a rival).

Good news, seems to have his head screwed on. Just need to work on his end product and there's a great player in there

"There have been attempts to give the impression that the difficulty in Sterling’s case has been part of a broader trend, but that no longer stands up to scrutiny as the vast majority of those who were promised contracts during the past 12 months have now agreed terms. Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho, Jordan Henderson and now Ibe will head into next season on recently penned long-term contracts. Martin Skrtel is expected to renew his terms this summer, and Jon Flanagan will be retained despite facing another year on the sidelines with injury."

Just for those who moan endlessly about how shit the club is when it comes to contract negotiation, looks like Sterling will be the only remaining outlier.

Delighted Ibe is signing a long term deal! Really refreshing to see a highly rated youngster eschewing the normal money-grabbing agent route and leaving it up to people who truly care about him and genuinely have his interests at heart, as opposed to some chancer who sees him as a cash cow.

What's the view on posting Bascombe articles on here? I take it that it's ok?

great news. Hopefully he can go from strength to strength for us. Hopefully we have learned from the sterling fiasco and have promised to give him a new contract in two years time if he does well. lets face it, if he's an england international, and one of our most important players, then he'll have earned his payrise. The key to keeping young players is to keep offering them contracts reflecting their worth and their progress before they get pissed off. Once a player enters the third year of a five year deal the power switches from the club to the player, as we are seeing with sterling.

What a lad. Hopefully, he'll turn into a monster player. He has a lot of things to improve on but the raw talent he has is frightening. Nowhere near as polished as Sterling but I guess that's Brendan's job to do the polishing. Loved that bit of skill to fly past both Terry and Matic against Chelsea. Left them for absolute dead.
Quote from: Dion Fanning

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

I'm sure the regulars will be here soon enough to tell us why the club made a bad move here

Nice work Jordan - hopefully you can continue to continue to kick on the direction you've been going. Some seriously good potential there, with an end product to boot, so hopefully you're managed well and get (and take) your opportunities.
