I enjoyed Iron & Wine - don't know the new album so that was all a pleasant surprise - will have to snap that one up. They're not a band I love (just 'kinda like' I guess) so I wasn't expecting wondrous things, but I enjoyed them, and the missus didn't have to sit in the back of the box dozing as she didn't mind them too much! Plus a fine beard or two on stage.
Support (Daniel Martin Moore) was ok, but without a particularly unique voice to really hook you in

Turning back time 29th March at the Academy Big audio Dynamite, original line up, Jones & Letts.

Memories of all those Christmas nights in the 80s, especially the nights at the 051, fuckin brilliant.

Anyone going to this tonight??

I'm going to Bristol next weekend to see BAD and am intrigued to know if they still have it.

Talking of the Stanley Theatre, just bought tickets for Noah & The Whale there in May.

See you there.

Trying desperately to get a ticket for The Pigeon Detectives because of the support band.  No luck.

Going to see The Icicle Works on Saturday at the O2 Academy.

Same here and looking forward to it . Always an excellent gig.

Gonna make sure I have a few bev's before I go in this time . Sick of being ripped off by the greedy fuckers at The Academy.

I went to see The View on Thursday as part of the Sound City thing, with an awful attendance.  This whole Sound City event seems a bit rubbish.

It's a bit jarg in a way, but there are some great acts on. Kurt Vile in the Kazimier was superb despite him having chronic sound problems, had a brilliant night, got really stoned in the courtyard and then hammered on rum and ginger, stood at the front and let sonic bliss unfold.

I thought Sound City was brilliant and is getting a little better every year.  Not surprised their was a shit attendance for The View though there were a lot of far better bands on when they were playing. Most of the gigs I got to in the smaller venues were pretty packed.

Hopefully going to go and see Toots And The Maytals at the Academy in September. Never really knew much about then I caught a doco on BBC3 (or BBC4?) and really enjoyed it. They still seem to genuinely enjoy what they do, so should be a good night :)

Not that i am a fan of the Kooks, but wanted to stroll in to the bombed out church when it opened on that thursday night, you were not allowed in unless you bought a ticket just for that gig, it was a joke, a huge queue of people that had bought weekend wrist bands left out side waiting even when it was still empty inside... No explination from Sound City when people complained!! Wont be going again, when I buy a weekend wirstband I dont expect to be told when i arrive at the venue door at opening time I cant get in cos didnt buy a ticket for that gig only!!! grrrrr!!!!

Clearly says on all the promotional material that wristband does not guarantee admission if venues are full.  The whole event is based around lots of small venues and as such if lots of people suddenly want to go to one particular gig then they will not get in.  You just head on off and see someone else, who in all probability, based on what I saw, will be far better than the Kooks

i was working sound city and the kooks wanted tickets for there fan club. so bombed out church had to make sure all the kooks fans got in first. your right it was a total joke. it was wrong to let the kooks do that.
