They'll sack him if we go out of the FA cup to United but it will be too late by then imo though.

If Kenny was to take us to Old Trafford I think we'd get at least a draw and then do them at Anfield.

Go now Roy so as not to ruin our season completely.
United used to win titles on easy street, time for us to take over that real estate

If this information is directly attributable to briefing by Fenway, I will be disappointed. We would then be getting back to the bad old days of leaks and gossip-driven media management. With a similar briefing being put about that Rafa was not in FSG's plans, it's a worrying trend - if genuinely from Fenway rather than good guesswork.

My own view was that if they definitely didn't want Rafa, they should have said so, or said nothing. In this case, if they are going to sack Hodgson, then bloody do it now. If not, then say nothing. This leak (if genuine) just undermines everything and creates even more feverish speculation. It most certainly wont calm the fans or the players.

If it's a prelude to RH "resigning" after the match tomorrow, fair enough, though still the wrong way to go about things. I was really hopeful that we wouldn't be back here with whispering campaigns through the media.

I hope I'm wrong.

Hicks and Gillette used the Media to undermine Liverpool football club, with lack of respect just like roy hodgson does, What they are doing is trying to calm down Supporters to confirm in someway what we all Knew, That roy haves until the end of the season because he's not in the future plans for Liverpool Football club.

He was sacked from Villa because, even though they had bigger wage bills than Spurs and possibly Arsenal, he could not get them into the CL. Yet he still wanted more money invested in the squad. He never rotates, which probably scuppered their chances of fourth because with their two cup runs the players were knackered for the league run in.
He is not what we need.

He resigned from Villa in protest after Milner was sold.

I think MON could easily manage us out of relegation.

It's not his tactics or man management that worry me, it's his transfer policy. He'd bring in shit like Heskey and Carew.
and just the thought of MON's monkey on steroids dance on the sidelines is enough to give me nightmares mate.

He's not that bad, mate. I don't want him, but he's nowhere near Hodgson.
I dunno, Roy got Fulham to seventh and the Europa League final on a shoestring budget. O'Neill achieved naff all whilst throwing money everywhere.

So what will happen tomorrow?

If we win, will that buy Hodgson time? I assume they were looking for a new manager anyway, but maybe it's not that urgent then?
If we lose, Hodgson will be no closer to the sack as he's off anyway?
What if we draw?
Not a good plan.

I don't think half the fans hate him, but I wouldn't be surprised if half the fans would prefer he didn't manage us again.  Two completely different things.

Will it? They've basically already sacked him. He's just free to stand on the touchline and rub his face until they've found somebody else. The whole article reads to me that they rule out an interim manager.

Roy is a terrible manager. No doubts there.

But Gerrard is on £110,000+ A WEEK.

On Wednesday I went to the game and he couldn't be arsed

Can't be fucking arsed.

Not sure this is brilliant. Fucking hell. More money than I earn in 3 or 4 years. And he can't be arsed.

120 000 per week actually

Benitez loves to be in control of transfers, and that's Comolli's position.
Thats not strictly true. He worked under a DOF at Valencia and Inter.
Comolli has also said that no player would be brought in if the manager didn`t want him. The big problems between Comolli and Benitez might be the 2 different markets they work in. Rafa: Spain / Italy. Comolli: France / Africa.
But that is the problem I have with Comolli. Part of the reason Hodgson is failing is that the players don`t fit his hoofball system. But in some ways Comolli will have similar problems as he will try to impose a French philosophy on the club.
There really isn't.  I think a lot of us, even our own have started doubting it. It's time to rise up. And take what is rightfully ours. It's a big mountain, but what is the point in achieving something, which everyone can?

Fate has given us a mountain too big. We have to rise. We have to believe.

if we win nothing changes, if we draw nothing changes, if we lose, Hodgson's gone, because of the backlash that will ensue from the crowd.

I think french footballers fit English premier league perfectly as well as african, even more then Spanish or italian. Plus Comolli is also into young british talent.

I don't know, maybe half is a bit much, but there really is some weird hatred for him out there. Rawk is just very pro-Rafa. But even here, the moment he left Inter, they all came crawling out of the woodwork again.

Anyway, lets not make this thread about Rafa.

Tony Barrett - The Times

Roy Hodgson has apologised to Liverpool fans for questioning their support, but his contrition has come too late to safeguard his future as manager after the club’s owner, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), determined that he is not the man to take the club forward.

Though Hodgson is only six months into the three-year contract he signed last summer, he will be ousted as soon as a high-calibre replacement can be identified and recruited.

The 63-year-old has made it clear that he will not tender his resignation despite presiding over Liverpool’s worst start to a season for 57 years and his relationship with the club’s supporters breaking down, so FSG will effectively take the decision out of his hands by actively targeting his successor.

Should the right man become available Hodgson’s departure will be confirmed before the end of the season, although FSG will continue to bide its time in a bid to ensure that the problems facing the club are not exacerbated by any short-term decisions, as was the case last summer after the removal of Rafael Benítez.

Hodgson was in damage-limitation mode yesterday, apologising to supporters for his assertion that they had failed to back him. But his remorse appeared to cut little ice, with an online petition calling for his immediate dismissal attracting more than 11,000 signatories and demanding “a manager of greater quality”.

Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday was a setback too far for both fans and owners in a season in which embarrassing results have become a regular occurrence.

Hodgson attempted to build bridges before today’s home match against Bolton Wanderers. “It is a cliché but we do need time, patience and support, and the support from our fans at this club is of vital importance because that is what has made the club great through the years,” he said yesterday.

“We need that support and we need them [the supporters] to get behind us because things aren’t going well.”

says who ?

But in all seriousness, this feels like just a way to appease the fans and bide some time.  If Roy starts miraculously playing well, then they can say they chanaged their mind or there's no reason to change or even not say anything at all. It wouldn't matter. It's not like they made a promise they might break.  It's just that they released a very flexible statement
