So much for coaches being forced on Rodgers theory.
And so much for the experienced coaches coming in.  Let's hope he is good

So much for getting in experience. His last club was Bristol City where the fans disliked him.

Was really hoping we'd get Pako or Meulensteen who are 2 excellent, highly regarded coaches who have experience at the top level.

Rodgers got his way again it seems, really getting the feeling that the club has basically gave Rodgers everything he wanted this summer so it's either sink or swim with no excuses next year

Good decision. His authority won`t be undermined in any way. Assistant coaches should be confidants rather than some strangers who can easily fall out with him.

I was hoping for someone with a wealth of experience at the top level. Especially when it comes to the rigours of having to play European and domestic football. Oh well...

hmm...

I think in the short term he'll possibly bring something to the table it's something new and will keep the existing players on their feet you would hope.

Must admit i don't know too much about the guy, but if what is being reported is true, the one thing i would say that is a bit of a worry is that he doesn't have the top level experience, and Brendan definitely needs that, and it's a manager with a similar philosophy to him.... nothing that would "challenge" Brendan, just someone else who would set up the team like he would...

I thought it was the ex-Rugby player at first. And given how batshit crazy our decisions have been over the years it didn't cross my mind that it couldn't possibly be true.

So we get linked with exciting talent like Pako and Meulensteen....

Nope we get some c*nt with a 25% win ration with Bournemouth 20 odd years ago.

Fuck off.

Liverpool Football Club. :butt

Our manager almost took Watford down and got sacked off by Reading, yet, he was a couple of games away from winning the Premier League.

That certainly came from nowhere.. unless I've just really not been paying attention.

Know nothing about him, so here's hoping he's the right choice. Only time will tell, but there will be a lot of moaning about this appointment no doubt.

Welcome to the club, O'Driscoll.

Wouldn't be the first to be a better coach than manager though. Like you say it's clearly Rodgers choice but so was Pascoe and Marsh so no difference there.

So were Hyypia and Meulensteen at Brighton and Fulham. Imagine it's unlikely many people will know how good a coach/assistant he is or will be given how we never see much of training.

I am of course going to back him (not that you can really measure an assistant managers impact anyway, from a fan perspective) but this is just very odd to me.

It`s difficult to be successful in the lower leagues with philosophy Rodgers and O`Driscoll share. You have to change too many bad habits when you take over and owners won`t give you time.

City were already struggling at the foot of the table when he took over in all fairness, the football did marginally improve and for a while it looked like they might stay up but that could of been down to the normal lift when a new manager takes over.  Ultimately they were relegated and the following season things went to shit and the football was horrendous.  The fans really wanted him out come the end.

Such a strange one.

Pascoe and Marsh were sacked off the back of the season review. Why did they get sacked, and how does giving two youth coaches huge promotions fix the problem?

Obviously it's hard to know which coaches are good at their job and what their responsibilities are, but it's hard to see the logic here. Especially when big names were flashing their knickers in the papers

Hope he helps but why sack Pascoe then, if the plan wasn't to get in someone with top level experience?

Really confused by this. Why not get in someone experienced at the top level?
