For the people saying we should have signed someone to challenge Mignolet - does anyone actually have a few names who would do the trick? I don't mean this antagonistically at all; I just know nothing of available top-class keepers.

Anyway, welcome Adam. Totally sensible signing as far as I'm concerned. Some people might not feel comfortable going into the season with Migs, but going into the season with just Ward as a backup would've been far worse.

We got him for free when Rodgers took out critical illness cover for Sturridge!

Did that striker and keeper you think we needed was supposed to be really good or just passable?
My GK of choice would have been Matty Ryan, but for free and as a No.2 Bogdan is a decent signing presuming that it frees up cash elsewhere. I expect one of the two strikers brought in to be top quality or thereabouts - that's THE crucial signing this window.

I think he's bang average, but I suppose on a free it's hard to complain too much.  A top class, first choice goalkeeper would have been one of my three main signings this summer.  I guess we'll have to continue with Mignolet...I look forward to another season of watching him pull off a worldy save, miss something a five year old could save and trip over his own feet when he gets a backpass all in the space of the first 5 minutes of kickoff.

Living in bolton i know he's classed by many of my bwfc supporting friends as a decent keeper , not brilliant but steady.

The down side here is he is a backup but i think he'll end up being #1 pretty quick not due to his form but migs form meaning our first team will have a B class keeper (no disrespect meant to the guy)

Fill your team with mediocrity and that's how they will play and end up in the league.

Maybe i'm having a bad day but i'm usually optimistic until at least septemeber, not this year

I watched some of his matches when Jaaskelainen was injured and I thought he looked like a pretty good keeper. Of course that was 3 or 4 years ago, but he was really quite good IMO. I'd love to have a cry wank over this one, as I've been very critical of our "Prem Proven" targets at striker, but this player for this role at this price makes sense to me.

It could be a case of us sorting out the attack this summer, then next (or in the winter) trying to find a Migs replacement/upgrade. I don't know, but let's face it, never on your life was Migs our biggest problem last season - not even close. If the injuries aren't an issue, Bogdan is a fairly big upgrade on Jones, and while "better than what we have" is not a good enough justification at No. 1 striker, it should do the trick at No. 2 goalkeeper.

I don't think we need to splash out on a top number 1 keeper. Migs was one of our best performers last season once he got over his bad spell. I'd rather see that money spent on goals.

Bogdan seems to be an improvement on Jones, so happy enough with that.

I thought he was potentailly the best keeper in the world a few years back. He has since been though some nervous spells, but looks ready to fulfil that promise and at the very least be a good enough back up option. I'm happy enough with this, could even put some pressure on mignolet for 1st choice.

To those who think we should buy someone who challenge Mignolet for that No 1 spot when was the last time it worked!? It is a beutiful idea that two top keepers challenge each other but I'm afraid it doesn't work in real life. Of course opinions differ but I don't want to create situation where keeper starts to worry about making mistakes which leads to hesitation what to do in any situation. IMO there has to be clear No 1. It is completely different question is our No 1 good enough...

I also think that No 2 shouldnt be young top prospect either because if the situation comes where we need to rely on our back up keeper it should be someone who knows what's coming. We don't need someone who perhaps plays his first match and is amazed that he actually plays for LFC and in the EPL.

To me this is good signing. Mignolet is still our No 1 but if we need to put our No 2 in Bogdan knows what to expect.

Terrible signing this. Absolutely terrible. I've never seen him play or anything, or know much about him, but still, its a terrible signing

How do I know this? Because obviously I'm an authority on all matters relating to transfers and in my extensive experience of pissing and moaning on internet football forums I have found that free signings are generally shit

He's a decent backup and getting him on a free means we can spend more on other positions in the team. He might be the first Hungarian we've signed to play a first team game.

edit - Istvan Kozma played six games for Liverpool, so Adam would be the second.

During the season I didn't see anyone say we should sign Bogdan let alone any Championship keeper. We can do better than this and it's not being "negative" or "soft" to say so. So underwhelming.

Sorry if you don't agree.

Well considering people only found out Jones was leaving at the end of the season, i'd be surprised if anyone was talking about a backup keeper during the season.

This is precisely why the backup keeper DOES matter. If Mignolet gets injured, suspended or his form drops off again, then you have to turn to your backup keeper.

Having said that, I've barely seen Bogdan and so I have no real opinion about him.

Welcome to Liverpool, Adam!

Welcome.

Better than Brad Jones but that's not a ringing endorsement, as Jones is League One quality at best. I was hoping for us to bring in someone to really challenge Mignolet, and Bogdán seems in the Mignolet mould of 'keeper. Anyway, I'm sure he's a fine number 2 in isolation, though there are larger issues to consider - Mignolet's ability and fragile confidence; what Rodgers wants from his 'keepers; etc.

Biggest question for me is did Rodgers sign Bogdán? Seems the antithesis of someone like Vorm, whom Rodgers actively pursued last summer.
